How big have you gone?

OK cool then. I don't believe that any 9 year old (Isabelle was 2003) rode 17ft surf and you don't care so its all good.

 

i surfed 7 foot (Hawaiian, which means like 14 foot sets) honalua. It was too perfect!!1 not only that, but it was a freak north swell in the middle of the summer, and i surfed it with only about 15 people out. Biggest longest most perfect waves you have ever seen. I was talking to a few guys that had grown up there, and they said that this was probably the best session they ever surfed there, cause the waves were pumping and literally no one was there.That wave is sooo long and has straight up barrel sections, it just makes me wanna jizz just thinking about that session, nothing has ever even come anything near close to that. But i caught a wave at boilers one time a while back that had to have been at least 12 foot, it broke past the boiler and was super super heavy. Those waves at honalua though were just so perfect though that it wasnt even scary, just so perfect huge!!!!!

 

last fall I was out for some T00BZ WITH THE BOYZ from the FORCE at mase. in between bashin kooks and dishin out my gnarly wisdom, i snagged about two dozen double overhead BARRELZZ and got so totally pitted. and i was surfing inside. my boy BIG RAYMOND had his rhino chaser out the back and was pulling in some tasty quadruple overhead cleanups.
so many UNCW BROS out though, i was rather distracted since i had to lay down the law for some of those jerzzzey dweebs several times.

 

That looks 6-7ft... And that means nothing from what it was the day before.

 

Back in the day when hurricane swells would actually become extra tropical and make their way up the East Coast and certain Long Island spots would light up with DOH to 12 feet (this was a long time ago, obviously LOL) - that was the biggest I've ever been out in.

I'm way too old now. I just sit back and watch the rest of ya'll fight it out when it starts closing out at 8 feet and be all jealous-like that I'm not battling closeouts.

However, the year with Ernesto was sweeet - what was that, 2006? I was in the HOSPITAL for that one for a few weeks, doing a lot of mind surfing.

Head high is my maximum - my broken neck/back can't take it.

Josh, if you were a kid out in 17 foot waves, good on ya, braddah.

Day after Ernesto at Squan, PERFECT DAY!!! You guys all know how that day was. Would love to have it back some day!

you guys should all go back to school and learn how to measure a wave cause i bet 75% of you are either dumb or liars

 

wave heights are somewhat subjective. if someone thinks said they rode a 300ft wave, but on someone else's standards it was only a 120ft wave, then who cares.

 

Ah yes, the memories of Ernesto still remain as the last greatest sesh many of us had (for those of us that were out).



Indian river was packed and everyone stoked.

 

I've seen some pretty good days since then... I don't know if that is my last favorite day out.

 

I dont get why people are giving iceybeatzjosh a hard time for saying he caught a 17ft wave just because he was young. I have a brother who is 8 years older then me and i always went out in surf i probably shouldnt have just because I he did. I am 18 now and just had my biggest surf ever this past may in ocean city which was about 15 ft but i know plenty of people that were riding that big way before i was. Just because the kid is 14 doesnt mean he cant do it. I believe you bro and thats great. Keep on doing what your doing.

 

Trop storm Barry and earnesto. Earnesto biggest and Barry the best surf I did . perfect waves both days but earnesto was what 10'- I had to break out the body board. If you were out in Fenwick it was the best I ever saw it there!
TS Barry was perfect glass and power and the temp were nice too

There are not that many spots on the East Coast south of New England that can handle a 10' swell. Not saying your lying but sometime perception is different then reallity. Watch a video of yourself surfing you'll see what I mean. The biggest I have ever saw in NJ was Gloria I believe '88 and that was about 9-10'. I have not seen anthing that big since. 15' this May where was that because that swell slipped past me.

The biggest surf I had was in Baja Mex. with 2 Huricanes/typhoons off the coast. Legite triple-overhead. At an isolated right piont. Felt much smaller then an 8' swell in jersey.

 

OCMD, about 10 years ago. I don't remember what the name of the storm was. Some waves were double overhead. The conditions were sloppy and choppy and it was really stupid to be out at that time, but I was young and dumb. Didn't get much of a ride out of those waves, but definetly the biggest I have ever been in.
