Surf sucks there, mostly due to bathymetry. No driving on the beach, but you will be near the Botany Bay nature preserve. The fishing can be great there, but I am not sure what you like to fish for. As an ex-yankee, I pronounced it Ed-dist-O, but that is incorrect. It is pronounced eh-disto.

been going there since early 80s..massive beach renourishments have gone on...to save the beach from erosion...and have created a fully downhill beach in most parts....now waves break almost uphill in about 1 foot of water from shore... so its swell break all within ankle to knee deep, wind chop last year i got a few short bodyboard rides,,fast, but way to short ,like catch it count to two hit the beach and roll...and it throws u on the beach with a fury,..people surf fish all the time seen a few small sharks taken not much else,,maybe try behind the island in the edisto river if u can or south tip where the beach ends and opens into the mouth of the river...used to be a hidden truly local beach island...now people pour in from everywhere..Dockside at nighttime can get busy... u can score... make sure u tag and release though
shelling used to be pretty good,,sharks teeth can be found, nothing huge but lotta small teeth if u look,,,certain times of year lotta horeshoe crabs wash up dead..tear the inside/arms out dry it varnish it hang it on the wall..golf course isnt bad...usually run a 4-7 play all u want special....mainly a good family time beach...and one of the only beaches in s.c i know of where u can load a cooler of beer and drink all u want on the beach(no bottles just cans, make sure u have a solo cup to put it in)

if swell is right and on incoming tide u might can find a spot somewhere to catch a quick ride not sure where is best for that on the beach,,where the island turns i did see some breakers out a ways 200+ yards or so..couldnt tell if they were rrideable if u can get out there..maybe put some time in on a bicycle scoping it out,SUP maybe ur best choice though to cruise around on
