6! Waves and schedule have lined up nicely. Going on a trip soon so hopefully that number goes up even more.

Costa. Realize it's not sexy but it's easy, comfortable and familiar. As I've gotten older I tend to go with what I know.

Nothing wrong with that dude, it's still an awesome place to surf regardless I'm sure.

No reason other than I was trying to bring the community back together.

Yeah man, some solid days for sure. For me it's easy to forget some of the good days after a while, they kinda run together unless it's epic.

checked my workout log this morning and it was actually 10 days, not 9. pretty stoked about that for this time of year, given the lack of non-working daylight hours and the cold (I like to pretend the cold doesn't stop me, but it's undeniably a factor to some degree... there are absolutely small days here and there when I would paddle out in boardshorts in august but am not willing to bother with putting on a 5 mil and freezing my d!ck off... not to mention an extra 10-20 min spent changing).

I drilled down a little deeper into my sessions to get a little more detailed with it. I broke my sessions into 4 groups (see below). I found that the majority of my sessions had clean / offshore conditions in the mornings with a few of them being bumpy / choppy but overall wind cooperated around here.

    Head High - Overhead: 3

    Chest - Head:1

    Waist - Chest: 9

    Knee - Waist: 5

why exactly are you keeping a log for? i know some ppl do it for wind conditions and how it breaks, but even that's old skool and figured out with scientific models where no log is necessarily needed. I don't really get the point. is it to brag about something? just confused, man

Damn, now I'm curious how mine break down too. I have this info, but it's at home. Will probably update later. I think most of mine are between waist and head but not sure the exact breakdown. Definitely mostly clean or semi clean conditions, I can't get motivated to surf onshore slop when it's this cold.

I've never specifically kept a surf log, but I've expanded my workout log (which traditionally is just lifting/gym stuff) to include surfing and mountain biking (and skiing whenever I get up to VT again) so as to track my new year's resolution (surf, ski, mtb, or lift every day in 2017). Been writing location and conditions because why not, if I'm already writing the date and "surf 75 min" it only takes another couple seconds to add all the relevant info.

I've just heard of people doing it to keep track of their sessions and then look back on it as useful data / reconne for future sessions. I wasn't exactly sure how good my month was until I started looking at it. Makes me feel a little better about January than I was feeling about it initially. Just something to do, i'm sure i'll get bore of it soon enough, but who knows, maybe I can do the entire year.

Right on, back when I use to hit the gym I kept track of things too but I haven't been inside a gym in years. I never kept a log for surf either, this would be my first attempt at it, i'm sure I could get even more detailed about it if I wanted, but i'm not that OCD.

As I noted above, I started doing it for different reasons (new year's resolution accountability/tracking), but this is the unexpected benefit for me. My recollection of how much and how well I've been surfing lately is so subjective... I haven't had a decent session in a week and a half, I missed the huge swell a week ago (as did virtually everyone I know, and it's probably for the best because I'd have been well out of my comfort zone, but it's still irritating), and so prior to thinking about it in order to respond to this thread, if you'd asked me yesterday how January 2017 was for surfing I would have said pretty ****ty, didn't get out much, didn't get many good waves. So I guess it's kind of to brag, since I dug into it in order to post here, but that's not really the true benefit for me... I mean, as far as I know y'all are just a bunch of 1s and 0s on a server somewhere so I don't really give a fvck what anyone here thinks about me, but having gone through that exercise I feel much better about the past month of surf. 10 days, mostly clean, mostly bigger than waist high is pretty fvcking good for a married dude with a baby at home, especially in one of the coldest darkest months of the year and without using a single hour of vacation time. I guess that last sentence is bragging to a degree, but I'm really just bragging to myself so I stay positive and don't get jaded/lazy/complacent.

LOL I doubt anybody wants to see my sex log, it's even more impressive than my surf log
Exactly man, you get it. It's for yourself, for the very reasons you listed. I shared it here since it's a surfing forum and we need more surf topics. I encourage others to do the same.
