It's that time of year- wear everything you got lol early January is always always questionable - depending on air temps- 4/3... or more? but now after the past few weeks of air temps hardly getting above 32... waters gonna be cold! Even if the bouy reads a bit warmer- think about all the inlets and other distributaries that where just frozen!! All that cold water mixing in the surf zone... At least the air is supposed to be warm tomorrow, may be able to pull off a 4/3 if it's newer...idk not me lol I will be wearing 6/5/4 ...i have found that the materials have gotten so good in the last 5 years it's hard to tell the difference when wearing a 6 compared to a 5.... except you never get cold in a 6! So I wear one from now- mid January to the beginning of march- the rest of the time in a 4/3 or 3/2. I rather spend more time in a 4/3 then being in a 5/4 the whole stretch... just my personal preference. And yes- 7mil boots and lobster claws or even mittens!
spring suite is fine. I wore a 6/5/4 today,couldve gotten away with a 5/4 but I only got a 6mil and a 4/3 n various tre deuces.7mil booties 6 mil glovage
DP was nice...almost 60 degrees at sunrise surfed for 2.5 hours and got out and temp dropped to 45 degrees. Water felt nice. Opted for 3mm gloves and was fine...couple of dudes no hoodie. not me!
surfed for two hrs in 40* water yesterday! I cant say enough about my 5-4 flash bomb-plus. air went from 60 -20 in 5 hrs here in Boston. felt great the whole time. 5 finger/5 mil. 7mil boots! felt great just getting salty after a month after being frozen in this corner of the planet!
