Teach people to surf on a boogie board, using swim fins.

This is the best and safest way to introduce them into paddling into the lineup, duck diving, paddling, wave selection and actually riding a wave face instead of white water.

It's fun and safe. If they get the water dynamics down after a few sessions and still want to learn to stand up, you've created an excellent starting base.

Never bring sand to the beach! If you have to, tell her to do pop ups on a soft top every commercial at night do 5 close push-ups then pop up, that's 1. Repeat 5 times every Commercial! Avoiding pearling starts at home!

    mostly true
there are some mushburger knee hi waves where a 10' foamie would be an easier introduction to 'surfing'

but if they wanna become shred machine, they gonna need to step it up to the bodybort...

Surf's up : the girl's guide to surfing
    by Southerden, Louise.

See if your local library has it. It explains the stuff that guys just assume you will know via genetics or whatever; the stuff we pretend to know even though we don't because macho you know. And it clearly explains the difference between guy surf culture and girls' surf culture and the expectations thereof.

Keep them pregnant, barefoot, and in the kitchen
If not, I like my shirts starched........
End of the foolishness about teaching them to surf........

Tried to teach my fiancée how to surf... not a good idea. I had been asking her from the beginning and the first time we went out in 1-2ft windchop **** she broke down, freaked out, yelled, cried and hit me a few times. She hasn't tried since. I did put her on **** dragging board in Costa Rica and pushed her into a few. She liked that but not enough to get hooked. Maybe it's for the better so I can have the time to myself but wouldn't it be nice to have the other half wanting to go surf instead of not wanting you to leave to go surf???

I've taught my kids but not sure about da wife. I've left it open to her if she wants to try it. One of my friends we stay with in Wilmy, his wife surfs too and she and my wife are BFFs, so I told her if she want to learn to get her to teach her.

But honestly not sure if I want her to learn. On the one hand it would be cool to surf with her and hang out, and give us another mutual interest. On the other hand I can see how it could go bad quickly. She's a freaking time-nazi and impatient as hell for one thing. I like to get there when it's good, but if I'm a few mins late I don't stress about it. She on the other hand...

I can just see it now...Her standing by the door, impatiently tapping her foot..."Are you ready yet??? We have to leave NOW if we're going to get there in time for the mid-tide push." Then acting all pissy pants the whole ride there b\c we left 15 mins late. Then we get there and I can't just grab my bort and escape to The Happy Place...

"Can't you wait for me to paddle out?" "Why did you paddle over there? What you don't want to hang around me?" etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc....ad nauseum. I just don't know if she has the temperament for it. Esp. the lack of patience.

Barry she's doing fantastic. She'll be 10 months old in 2 more days. Starting such an interesting and fun phase of development. Crawling, playing, interacting, and vocalizing so much more. I'm psyched I've been working a second jobbe since she was born and in one week I'm done, so I'm gonna have so much more time.

Yup, our grand-baby just discovered her vocal chords--it is great to have the sounds of a child in our home once again (when our daughter is visiting).
