Only have two now and they're early trash. Sold a couple a while back. Standby for another coming out late fall hopefully.
Great. At least I might not get the eye just the NE quadrant. What's really messed up is we're sitting here hoping that it will come in as "only" a Cat 4. This sucks.
Roofing nails litter the roads, thenstench of mold on everyone, no power for weeks, scrounging for ice and water and gas, no traffic lights, not enough roofers or repair people, few rentals available, unemployment surges. Say what you guys will about illegal immigrants, but without them, Florida will be screwed. They were the ones who would tear down the moldy and wrecked drywall and pitch in to rebuild In awful conditions. No way my town would've recovered without them. It's a bizarre thing to see hundreds of power trucks across the street in the staging ground after a hurricane, week after week. They set up amazing tents and feed the crews. FEMA takes over local buildings to help out. The whole thing is surreal.
Hello, not gonna read 20 pages on this but we made it through Irma with no problem....power out, running on generator, lots of downed banana trees and broken branches and bird nests everywhere. Probably couldn't get to Rincon to surf anyway with the roads like they probably are. Doubt if it's any good. S$rfline cams down Winds on the west end of the island were not too bad, maybe gusts to 50-60, (overnight) so we'll live to see another day and another storm. What's with all the "Moderator Forum" posts? Like a psy-op...great way to kill a forum guys.
some crazy footage of the storms wrath in the carribean on this site https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/06/world/americas/hurricane-irma-update.html
F I'm exausted! Last night I hung the plywood we used last year on the windows we covered. Today worked a full schedule, cut the lawn front / back on my lunch break, then cut more wood and hung on the rest of the windows after work till it got dark. Only one left, drill died at the end. Got time to tomorrow still, probably work a half day and tie up any lose ends and then lock myself in the dungeon. Should be an interesting storm.
I'll finish putting up my shutters tomorrow. The stress of just waiting to see where this storm is going is killing me. I did notice that the SI surf forecast for Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday shows the top wind speed at 81mph. I can only hope that is true.
To all you SI friends in the South--best of luck to all of you. Hope you all make it by unscathed and unharmed!! It will be one hell of a tube ride!!!
Hope you all stay safe in Florida. I have a lot of people I care about in Florida. Most of my family still lives there, around Pinellas County, as well as a couple of close and longtime friends, and my best friend's parents, who I'm as close to as my own parents, are in Venice. Also have a really good friend in Jacksonville and another in Delray Beach, who is evacuating. My mom and my uncle are up in Cape May right now, but live in Treasure Island for most of the year.
The SI surf forecast for Ft. Lauderdale this Sunday now shows the top wind speed at 52mph. I hope you SI forecasters know something that no one else does.
I'm in Treasure island weighing my options. Unfortunately I live on the water sp it looks like I will be leaving. We are under mandatory evacuation but I will stay until Sat. I have extra water, food and gas and a place inland to hunker down. Stay safe!
I don't get that either. There's a lawn service guy at a business down the street right now cleaning up the lawn clippings with a leaf blower. WTF? We're gonna have a helluva leaf blow here soon.
