Glad to hear you all made it out relatively unscathed. I hope it was like that for the vast majority of folks down there. Anyone hear from either of the two Surfdogs? Si and FL? What about Stuck on the Gulf?

I spoke to StuckontheGulf, he and his family are doing well. His home, boat and restaurant made it through with no major damage, no storm surge, so they lucked out big time.

had I been down there I too would have cleared your driveway with my trusty large chainsaw. We morons up here in the North know how to use chainsaws, snowblowers, etc.....theyare as commonly used here as are rakes, lawnmowers, etc. Except my neighbor--he is an idiot; to finicky to use anything called a "tool"...doesn't want to get his hands "dirty".

Yeah it downgraded before landfall but it's a strong storm nonetheless. It took the best possible path for us. Not so much for those in the Keys or Marco Island though.

I've been slammed shuttering up my Moms and my daughter's place. Today helping neighbors clean up. We got lucky, I'm one of three houses on the street with power. My buddy's kid texted me this morning, he went surfing out at Jupiter Inlet Colony on the north side of the inlet, most places are restricted access but he has a friend who lives there. My wife would have killed me too, if I went out today. Adulthood often is a pain.

We truly dodged a missile yesterday. The FL Keys look grim. God Bless those folks. I hope everyone on this here forum get home safe and sound.

I watched a lot of the live coverage, bouncing between TWC and CNN, etc.

There was one scene where the guy on ground level bailed to cover, just as a ridiculous band blew through that looked a lot like that above. This was in Naples, where there were two CNN guys reporting.

I want to say lame, but I have to admit to being compelled to watch, and the newscasters really did capture the strength of the storm.

Lame is lame, but...some of this stuff is also cool to give you a sense of the power of the storm virtually.

I'm pretty sure the part I watched captured the 130+ gusts Naples had. I can't even imagine what 180 must have been like.

Glad you Floridians made it out safe and mostly free of damage.

It looks like all that I know there got away with little to no damage also.

Crazy: we had no power in Atlanta for 12 hours yesterday, which accounts for no updates on storms posting :) this was a big deal being on 14 floor with no hurricane supplies.

Looks like no power at home for a couple of weeks, at least.

It's pretty sobering to see what happened on on the islands and how lucky FL was to not get hit with the Cat5 storm that was out there prior to bouncing off Cuba. BVI, St Martin, etc... are just ruined.

Yeah man it is. Marco Island got hit pretty hard though, select areas throughout the state got tornadoes and ruined neighborhoods or took out some structures. I saw a video of a plane flying over the Keys and it looks like a deserted wasteland. We were lucky, tornados touched down not far from us and ripped up some structures.

Well, I'm back.....l have generator power, but the good news is the water subsided and was able to return to work today. It was a rough ride, but my house made it without any damage, I just installed impact resistant windows so no extra work taking shutters down, all in all, just picking up debris, all is good...c'mon FPL!!!!!

It kind of looks like Spider-Man or some other super hero, if they kept charging at a wall and bouncing off of it. I showed it to my buddy and he thought it was even funnier than I did.

That's great news! Glad your home is ok. My office in Tampa is still closed so I'm off again today.
I'm sure someone somewhere created a gif file of him breakdancing lol
