How do the manatees survive this kind of thing anyways?

 

The central part of Matthew is now visible on Miami radar. You can easily see an inner and outer eyewall with a "moat" of clear weather in between. Seems to be undergoing an eyewall replacement cycle. Pretty cool. It also looks like he is tracking more east. Wish-casting I suppose. All OK here so far, just some occassional bands of wind and rain. NHC 2 pm update places Matthew at 25.7N 78.4W. I'm at 26N 80.1W. Good for me.

Take a look at the Stafford Act (about disaster relief....not sure on the manatees).

 

A move Easterly would prove to be a big help to the coast of FL. Hope everyone stays safe out there!!!

As for the 10B to repair mansions, that is exactly what the Feds should do. Why repair ghettos?? They don't work, they are on Welfare and they suck......period.

The last south swell I got true was 30 years ago. Jumped off the north jetty of the Boynton Inlet at high tide and got barrelled all the way to the beach 10 feet from the jetty the whole way due to the curvature. Looks like we may get that again forna magic few hours Saturday early, hopefully the roads will be open; otherwise its long paddle from the ghetto. You just time it, jump off the end of the jetty, crouch, and get shacked. All the way to the beach - 30 yards of bliss. Rinse and repeat.

This actually sounds too easy...did you jump in and paddle/time it. Or where you doing jetty step offs? I would be up to try this!

Just jumped off the end of the jetty with my boart, faced shoreward, stood up fast, and grooved it all da way in. The rocks were 3 feet away in my left peripheral vision the whole time as a warning not to fall. Added to the rush.
