Warning Yankee: this herky jerky one out of Curacao may mess with your mojo this early in the morning...
Curacao again - nice drone footage (turn the volume down...)...
Got hammered with 10" of rain. Flooding was bad. Few trees down around the hood. Stronger storm than expected with the media hype on the "turn". Gonna go help my neighbor with downed tree
The creek came up at least 8'. My house is on crawl space. The house was surrounded by water. I'm gonna go underneath to see if any got under house.
Good!! Oh wait....don't tell me you have been surfing 10-20 footers out in the Melbourne area??!!?? If so....Im jealous!!!
Unsure where this is, but probably Flagler, St. John's or Duval...brutal... It certainly wasn't just the coast. My father on Julington Creek said the water came up into the yard a good ways, which is well designed to prevent it. His buddy (retired ball player) two doors down had evacuated, and his boat came unmoored in the canal; so, my father went out to get it, and he ended up chest high with the gators for it all, ha ha. Clark's Fish Camp is under water...hopefully their rare collection was spared. As for the trees, my 32-ton crane is currently in transit... Meanwhile, I read that Michael Dunphy edit: Bryan Brock had an interesting shark encounter while chasing the wave north to New Symrna, and he has been released. I wonder what MH is starting to look like right about now... I better see some decent stills and footage...
Nah man, I'm no big wave charger, that's well beyond my comfort zone. Largest waves I've ridden is 10-12ft, and I about sh*t myself.
Those people in the cars are more proof of Darwinism at work. And it wasn't Dunphy that got bit, it was another dude nipped on the knee, but Dunphy was apparently an eyewitness.
Agreed upon the Darwinism, but if they survived, they should know better next time... Bryan Brock, I see that now; thanks for the edit op... Oh wise one, I shattered both of my heels (twice, because I was not patient enough before jumping back in), and that finally taught me a bit of respect, as well... At least you don't usually have too far to chase, if you get the itch...
The flooding in Maryland was out of control after last nights rain. Finally feels like fall though, been looking forward to that.
Last time in that size surf I had my shoulder severely dislocated and end up in the E.R., shoulder hasn't been the same since, and I'm reminded of it every time I take a good beating and it almost comes out again, something I' e been dealing with for 20 years. Loose sockets I guess.
Well, I did gymnastics and ballet forever, and so I thought I was invincible in the surf, and was for a very long while, but wrong...very wrong, lol. Petite things do not always fare too well in big surf, and I have been in some very big surf in/beyond Florida....has much to do with why I took to a big lens. If you have a decent lens, try to get me some shots of MH, please...looks like all is slowly on the rise again...
Sloflo thats awesome, I still do ballet everyday for training, nothing better for your surfing. One of my favorite moves is doing pirouettes while speeding down the line, the chicks really dig that.
