Hurricane Mode for Models

    Micah,

    Has the the hurricane feature in the swell forecasts been turned on? If not, you going to do that this year?

    Hey Tommy,

    Yes, we will likely switch over to hurricane mode soon. This means that the forecast data will be based of the hurricane model rather than the regular wave model run.

    The hurricane model uses GFDL hurricane model winds as input, which is more accurate over the tropical storm/hurricane area.

    Dont make the switch TOO soon! we've got a nice little non-tropical swell event for mid week!

    Thanks. I will keep an eye out for them. I need to be very picky now that I live inland. Hopefully I will get at least one swell this season. I have been obsesively checking the charts. Is there a way to have a link to the hurricane charts? So both can be accessed.
