Waves were awesome in RI today. Wind came up fast but the hour or so around dawn was flawless chest high peelers. Once the wind picked up moved to this more exposed spot and got some bigger but less perfect sets.

nice. I had hoped for waves like that yesterday in maryland. It was fun, but not like that.

By the way, you can remove the landmarks, but thats a pretty recognizable shape!

how much more i love the left at that spot than the right, most of the time you can just tell the crowd your only taking lefts and score it all to yourself with 50 guys out.

also the wave to the far far far far left can be super fun and uncrowded and look like **** from the beach

that place really is the lowers of the eastcoast, and it never ****ing maxes out unless your a ***** and don't know the sweet spots. Ahhh how i love that spot when all the URI guys cant make it out because its too big and windy

lol i told my parents id only come home after the season to visit them if there is a solid hurricane or post fall swell after im done in montreal, and the Pacific Northwest is too stormed out. so maybe first of november. Mayhaps you will see me there, im awfully homesick when i see photos of this place

Barry- you are possibly the most grumpy person on here. When you only allow yourself to enjoy 13 miles of coast, you will naturally become xenophobic. As for the racism, I think that's been with you awhile. Its funny how you'll sit here and make comments about latinos and blacks and go pay for sex from them in PR.

I really liked your line about how everyone from the south is aggressive, and you guys "deal with them" Give me break, seriously. As with any spot in NE, if an out of towner is out-performing the locals- they shut up right quick and one of them always try to be the "massholes" friend.

Going to RI to surf the forerunners today is what any hungry, passionate surfer (with the time) would do. They would follow the swell as it wraps north. You know what the best location to be in for this is? Boston- smack in the middle. Let me know where you surf on Monday so I can come snake all your waves and fulfill the stereotypes you have created!

    Cheers!

No, definitely not, I'm from MA but travel down there often when the conditions are right.

It's a very cropped pic as the original had a lot of landscape and I'm not going to do that to the locals. My phone does suck for anything but a close up pic though, it's a Samsung s6.

I don't know where barry lives, but nh coast is 2 1/2 hours minimum with zero traffic (about 160 miles) from matunuck to nh coast. And you're passing by providence/boston/nh traffic so you're getting hit one way or the other with traffic. It's a solid 5-6 hours of driving round trip. Quite exhausting and bordering on needing a hotel. Not something you can do all the time and then you'd have to get back for the 2nd day of waves in nh and you're going to be tired. If he's a retired guy and that hard up for surf he'd be better off just moving to a place that gets waves like he says.

On top of it, if he really wanted to take a road trip, he'd be better off to go north to maine. The swell window is WIDE open compared to NH and it's way closer.

It really looks like matnuck. haha Anyone else think that's what it was? Oh and before anyone jumps all over me, everyone knows where ruggles is so I'm not naming any secret spots. The dudes that upload video's/pics are the ones driving people to areas. Just have a glance at youtube. Crazy amount of videos being uploaded.

holy **** i thought that was tunic for sure!

and for the record the drive from r.i to nh ain't bad. For him, head down there pre dawn surf all day, then drive back at night and pass out. . Wake up the next day and surf. No traffic between 2 and 3 hours each way. not bad if you and a friend split driving. depends how stoked and commited you are If needed get an air bnb for 50 bucks and snag some gannsets. The only way to score on the east coast is to be mobile otherwise ya get like 1 day a week if that.

I personally hardly ever surf in MA. I surf local or range north to Maine to catch south swells or find offshores in ne wind conditions. So many good uncrowded options up north, why go south and fight crowds.

Why go south?? Because that where other mass holes want you to go. After all, don't you want to be part of the herd??
But you are right on.....local is good enough, or if desiring something a bit different-Maine. If major difference desired: Logan.
