Was mediocre compared to "good " hurricane seasons. Havin said that got fun waves and it wasn't flat like last year but doesn't compare to some epic ones I remember in past

i'd say good, as in solid, not great or epic or any of a thousand other adjectives the surf media will prob. use to describe it. not a ton of storms, but they mostly all took a good track to send swell to south jersey to a great or lesser degree. had to use local knowledge to know where to go to avoid the crowds & get the best of the swell...

From down here in the Gulf, it looked effin awesome for y'all. Multiple storms that never hit land. I live on an island that was under feet of water for a week or so during Ike. It was almost to the 2nd floor of the house I live in. Wasn't here then, but Mom and sis were. Ya wanna wish for a storm and the great surf, but then ya remember the flood. Anytime ya get the storm surf, but not the storm, that's awesome. Y'all didn't have any roller coasters in the surf this year, or towns on fire.

We didn't get diddly for surf, but happy for youse guys. Next year maybe...

The seawall is officially 17 feet high. It's at least 10 feet down the stairs from the sidewalk to the beach. This is a few blocks from my house in some shots.

I thought having those half dozen decent to good tropical swells in June, July and August alone made it an above average season. Those three months can be so mind-numbingly small - having a waist to chest high tropical bump couple weeks was pretty rare and good. Sure we never got a big September hurricane swell, and the fall has been pretty uneven but I'd rate the tropical season (for the mid Atlantic) above average.

Agree with everyone. The number of storms was below average, but the every storm that did develop had a pretty solid path and generated swell for much of the east coast. There was a lack of a really big hurricane swell, but then again, those tend to be disappointing anyway.

The one thing this hurricane season was lacking with the giant hybrid systems that often start off tropical and then merge with a frontal system and create a big north east swell. There was a pretty long dry spell there in October and November, when typically that is a very consistent time of year with a combination of tropical and frontal systems.

looks like a combo storm is a lil late, but just in time for me to score
