Sew with dental floss and use neoprene glue designed for the job. Did that after my dog chewed a brand new still in the wrapper psycho II. Worked great.

I agree this stuff all works great and I've gotten extra seasons out of many old suits this way, but i wouldnt start sewing floss and gluing up a six month old suit that should be covered under warranty. I'm also curious whether people agree with the comment above:

"Don't take it back to the shop they're just going to tell you to send it to the company"

I know some of the better shops i patronize in OCMD would step up and help if an essentially brand new suit is falling apart.

Every winter, about 2/3's of the people in the water are wearing Xcel. That should tell you something.

I think those who wear different brands are doing so simply for better-fit reasons, not because of quality and comfort.

take the suit back to the shop and have them send it back to Xcel. it will come back as good as new. every Xcel suit i owned i had to have this done too.

my first winter suits and 4/3's were all Xcel. i have made the switch to ripcurl and o'neill. this morning i surfed a spot and of the dozen people out it was split evenly amount 3-4 brands. water was 52.

Send it back. Their customer service is great and they'll probably just send you a new suit.

That said, that white lacy type stuff they have lined the inside of their suits with is a total failure. I have two three mils less than a year old and it's coming off both of them. They have to come up with someother insulating solution for future models because that is not working.

Thats the most interesting advice yet!...send the Hyperflex thats falling apart back to Xcel. Hmm...maybe they just wouldnt notice and would send you a new Xcel?

Glad the OP used the search function and started a thread after he saw that we've never had a wetty repair thread on SI.

My Hyperflex 6/5/4 started coming apart around the chest seam after one winter of heavy use. Took it back to the shop, they sent it back to Hyperflex, and Hyperflex sent me a brand new 6/5/4, next year's model, no questions asked. Don't take a chance messing with it yourself, just ask the shop to send it back for repair/replacement.

I agree with the Dental Floss. I tried sewing a 5/4 and before even getting it all the way through my thread broke so i had to improvise so i found some dental floss and it ended up working out amazing. It's still holding strong. Also instead of neoprene glue i used Boss Silicone sealant and it worked really well too. It goes on clear, it's flexible, and holds really well. And it's also cheaper than neoprene glue
