i really have no problem with what he's saying. sure, eddie can be a lot and makua even more but overall there are some points there. i can't help but cringe as he keep measuring the amount of 'full bloodedness' in hawaiians- he could still be eddie da man without being in such poor taste considering he is really from NJ. really, this is a much larger 'problem', if you wanna call it that way. take baltimore for example over 50 years..rich people lived up in the city hills and poor by the water and factories. rich people got out into burbs (other people in), poor stayed. so, now city is back to being interesting and places like under armour have headquarters there, yuppies wanna back in- but this time it is cool to be by the water (no more factories) not up in the ghetto, so locals getting out, yuppies in. Old timers cannot die fast enough before their houses are gutted and money moved in. ASP is business like NFL is and it is the same BS. maybe eddie can negotiate someone a better deal but overall writing is on the wall.
You are dillusional if you think your local guys surf better than the guys on tour. These guys are hands down the best by a large margin. You might be able to argue that crap about some of the lifestyle people on contract, but 99.9999% of the guys who make it onto tour can surf absolute circles around 99.9999% of the people at your local break, and people on freesurf contracts. Yes, even your Tiago, Micro, Brett, the guys who constantly get **** on the internets surf mind blowingly well and insanely critical.
