Looks like she got wrecked on her board. Maybe an ankle sprain the way she was holding it.

Sally is one tough girl. Blew her eardrum out and not only kept competing but won the fiji pro.

She looks raunchy to my eyes.
But beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

You know man. I sometimes watch the women of the waves are good. Now let me say this before Amy one takes my words out of context. Which I'm sure someone will anyway. But i know these girls rip hard. I always and still do think it's kinda lame that they leave the mediocre days for the girls and the good days for the guys. But in this particular event..... I'm seeing a huge skill gap between the guys and girls. The girls are almost looking "average Joe"ish. And the wave isn't like a super critical threatening wave like some of the stops on tour. In comparison it looks like a fairly easy wave to surf.

I found this odd. Any one else noticing this?

    That girl is not ugly.

I remember once at Haleiwa. I was watching from the beach and there was this one surfer just dominating. I paddled out and was sitting there with the crowd and got a good luck at the surfer. She was just crushing the waves, exponentially better than everyone else out there. And it was a good, normal crowded day.

I found out later it was Layne Beachley (sp?) out there.

Compared to a male pro, maybe it's different. I only have a sample size of one, but damn she was absolutely ripping the **** out of the surf.

I can only think of one other experience where I was in the lineup with a pro. I was at Ehukai when Kalani Robb paddled out one day.

You know how you're in the lineup any given day, and maybe there are a few guys out there, and you're watching them and thinking, damn that guy is a really good surfer.

But, then you see a pro paddle out and it's like you're not even doing the same sport they're just so much better than everyone you've ever seen surf out there.

    Sorry, off topic, but word.

I've surfed in lineups where women dominated the scene. Style and class go a long way in surfing. A different atmosphere; it seems to wash away all the ego in our male dominated sport. A lot of them absolutely shred it up. Those that charge would put us to shame.

Some of those rail gouges that Tyler Wright throws her big a$$ into put 75% of EC pros to shame.

When I've went to Oahu, I've seen some really good and skilled surfers at different breaks. Most of them probably weren't pro's, but I'm sure I've come across a couple that probably were somewhere. The people out there are much more skilled, if not for the fact that they get some great swell with consistency.
