I don't know what your situation permits but you should definitely head out in some bigger waves. Theres a learning curve with the more powerful waves but the acceleration and opportunities to get better with bIgger waves is huge. Try to get out there on the next bigger day if you can!

This has my vote for the most etarted thread I've seen. Who cares about a lonely longboarder?

Cool, thanks for coming out tonight. The exit should be in the top left corner whenever you're ready.

Sniffer, plenty of people...question is, can you handle a longboard, or are you a frustrated lil boy who bunny hops around all day looking frustrated during small summer swells? Can you drop in on double overhead on a 10 foot, 40 year old log?

Im sure you drop in on those all the time. Stop giving good longboarders a bad rap, you really sound like a schmuck. This forum has gone to the dogs, see you all in the fall....

I rode shortboards exclusively for a long time, because I didn't have money for a quiver, and my theory is, if you only have one board, you want it to work good when the waves are good. If it's crap, it's crap, and you just deal with it.

But now that I have a full quiver, it includes a 9'3 single fin. I'll admit I only ride it when it's small... waist high or under. And even on many of those days I'll ride a fish.

But for me, longboarding is all about noseriding. If it wasn't for noseriding, I wouldn't longboard at all. I mix it up with some soul arch or drop knee turns, and a good old fashioned layback in the pocket along a fast backside wall is really fun. Old school logging is great. But it shouldn't be a crutch, just because you're old and fat. It should be done for what it is... "performance" of a different kind.

So if I'm reading this right, sniff, the forum's gone to the dogs because Crazy Arthur's pragmatic opinion & positive outlook doesn't mesh with your negative vibe & poison spew...?

There's a guy in Va BEE, used to be called lee the stud until he got outed & owned as a poseur troll, you may want to look him up...that way, there's 2 less bitter party of ones.

I ride both longboard and shortboard, but I honestly don't know what I'd do without a longboard and ride it more often than anything else by far. If you enjoy surfing, why would you want to be sitting and waiting around for 4'+ waves to go out? That would annoy me to absolutely no end.

Who the hell cares if some people use longboards as a crutch, anyway? They're having a good time, and personally I think that going out and doing what is fun for you and doesn't harm anyone else is pretty much immune to criticism. I mean, feel free to criticize it. I Just think that doing so is obtuse.

Besides, the insipidity of the whole "longboarders are kooks" platitude has really maxed out the scale. We've all heard it so many times and it doesn't become any truer the more it's said, so what's the point?

I am a long boarder! I ride a 9'6 Shane Smith nose rider. I am dreaming and planning to get a 9'6 step down deck from Mahady. My goals are to hang 5, 10, heels, and stand on my head. It might not be what the "surfing community" deems cool, but it's my life and what I want....I'm not ashamed but actually proud of it.

I also prefer my man to have a big stick ;)

Sending healing light and good vibe your way. Don't forget to do the same for yourself...imagine, see and believe that you are healing quick and strong. Also juice fresh vegies everyday! I'm 35 and healed a broken wrist in less than 5 weeks by doing all of the above. You can do it!
