if you were surfing Jersey during this swell, it was head-high on Saturday and overhead on Sunday. rest of the days were smaller. the end.
i would have to agree with this poster. Here in south NJ, thursday was somehow chest- to- head high, not too clean but it was there. friday was definitely head to overhead. saturday i didn't go out, my life is more important than waves so i'm not sure what they were like. Sunday was overhead ++ and monday and tuesday were all head high (+) on the bigger sets and wednesday was probably chest to head, but i only dawn patrolled it those days.
Thanks. It is all true. I wasn't in NJ though. Where I was it was also offshore everyday I surfed. Even my last surf dodging dark boulders in the lineup.
I'm pretty sure I know where you are talking about. I had hoped to make it there when I was up that way this spring.
Right...you know that 21 sq. mile island off Florida. Key West was OH for six days! Jim...from your clues i'd say you went to the perfect zone, and probably wish you were headed back there for next week. I know i wish i was.
theres gotta be some misleading information in this thread. the most helpful post is True. Since moving back from Ireland I haven't surfed waves this good and consistant unless it's been outside the continental US on a trip. However, This was on the East Coast in one state on a 21 sq mile island off that state! OH to 2xOH+ and offshore everyday. Surprised me too I didn't think it possible. bermuda is indeed 21 square miles, but definitely outside the continental US. the above post implies that mystery island is within said area. uhhh. other than that. i cant find any islands off the east coast with that size. i am intrigued. dont worry i wont name the island if i do figure it out.
i think he got his denominators mixed up when posting the size of the island. That's my guess, at least, and it lines up with some of the other "clues"
its not 21 sq miles though. i know of a few places that are close to 21 miles long, but not 21 square miles
You never saw the keys go off?? I guess I should read the entire post before I respond next time haha.
I think LJ means 21km from mainland use which is about 13 miles. Actual land area is about 10 sq miles. I am planing a future retreat there for next summer myself when I run up north for a road trip.
Assuming LJ took a ferry there, I think I know where you went. Thanks for clearing that up Matt. I imagine it could have been OH+ for more than six days on a storm that didn't track north as quick as this one.
jim, you are in block island rhode island. i didn't realize it was a guessing game until now but it's easy to figure out
Nothing special from me, OH for 6 days + in Indo, Panama, Costa Rica and Chile...nothing to see here folks...
