I went to my usual spot but it was crowded and mostly closed out and very inconsistent so I went to another spot and it was small and full of SUPs so I went to The @#$% Pier as a fall back last resort. It was good, with only a few guys out on the north side, and chest high peaks plus. I took off on one towards the pier and next thing I know, mono in the way, avoiding pilings and ducking fishing rigs. Then the incessant whistles of the lifeguard imploring us to stay away from the pier, and all of us feigning deaf dumb blindness, and we know the life guards and one of them is out with us pretending he is deaf too, and the fishermen are getting pissed, and the waves are nothing, just occasionally chest plus, but it is all grand. Sunburned and got lots of long ones, and this is just the beginning of the season.
I forgot to mention, the mullet were running and they tickled my belly. I saw a guy catch a good sized snook.
I'm making a 9'2" hplb - very narrow and lots of rocker, I'm gonna call it the "Pier Bombadier". Round tail with a fin box and two small sidebites. I can't wait to take it out there on a good sized swell and let her fly. Crowd control will be a built in feature. PARTY WAVE!
I think he was talking about the SUP guy and his paddle with the built in 357 mag. He do shot the piers bro.
