What kind of snack did you go for? Cold strawberry pop tart and some chocolate milk?

Santa's coming HOL. Hope you've been a good buoy this year.

Seen it in person in the 15-20ft range, it's not a wave you "try", it's a wave you train for and prepare for. Even "small Mavs" is very dangerous. But don't let that stop you. Just be sure you put in the work to earn your spot out there. It's not for the feint of heart. If you train for it and are prepared when the time comes then you can do it. Nobody is born ready to ride Mavs, all that have done it either trained for it and made the paddle out or were dropped off from a boat and rescued in the impact zone. I'm none of those people, but I can say with fair certainty that I won't be paddling out there anytime soon. But who knows, one day maybe...

Mavs is a lot heavier then it looks bro, many recreational surfers arent too excited about the idea of mavs when they are paddling out in it.

I believe the youngest person to surf Mavs remains to be Jay Moriarty... he was 16 but i'm not sure if he's still the youngest to surf Mavs.

When you're actually there, just dodging the giant waves, it scares you. Only the bravest of surfers are able to take the drop. I'll try and surf mavs with you after I train for it if you tho! Haha!

Here are some pics I took on the walk out, the tide was out and was about to come in, the guy making the paddle out was warning everybody to not get caught with the incoming tide as it would suck you right off the rocks / cliff.

Nice DPS, thanks for the pics.... And I'd probly hire someone to take me out on a small boat or even a ski... This would make it the easiest to surf. Lets not forget I didn't say I wanted to surf full on 60 foot top to bottom caverns at Mav's, I said a day like this where only the "biggest" sets were breaking. The first couple waves in this video. At around 30 seconds. Except I would back off before the inside bowl:

The inside suck kinda makes it worth it in those conditions.

Given the crowds, jetski spotters and inflatable vests its probably a lot safer than many other places when its small to medium sized. With the right equipment and preparation someone who really wants it should go for it.
