Sign me up for Iceland, always wanted to travel there! But Dude, what's the Santa Cruz reference aboot? I wasn't there long, but my visit there recently was pretty chill. Granted, a couple days doesn't give me a very good look but I explored most of the area in those two days and most people I met were cool... couple d-bags hanging around the contest at Steamer Lane, but other than that I definitely wanna go back. Did you have a bad experience there or is was it just meant as a joke? Just curious is all...

DP SUP - where did you surf when you were out there? I also just went to SC for the first time and found it pretty chill too. chest to head high the three days I was there and there were way less people at the spots I went to than you would find in the same fun conditions on the east coast. I eneded up surfing steamer, pleasure point and two other random spots where you could see fun looking waves from the road through town and a few surfers out.

I went to The Lane but it was shut down for an SUP / Kayak contest, I had a HPSB rental POS and was told only contest participants could go in, it was breaking a good 6-8 maybe 10-12 on larger sets, perfect glassy conditions, reeling all the way down and was about 5-6ft on the peak down the road, at least that's what it looked like from land.

Since nobody else was allowed to paddle out there, I decided to head back into town and ended up around Pleasure Point / The Hook, caught it around 5-6ft. maybe a couple feet overhead on larger sets, it just kept building throughout the day and by time my arms were about to fall off the sets were getting bigger and bigger.

Ended up taking a drive up to Maverick's to get a look at it and take some pics just before dinner and got to see firsthand why that wave is such a beast and not something to be messed with unless your absolutely ready for it. The waves breaking off in the distance looked like mountains of water coming straight for the huge boulders sticking out of the water.

Saw several people make the paddle out into what looked like impossible conditions, BUT, they made it out after a long paddle against the grain. Then, finally they started making the drop one by one and a few were killing it out there. It was funny because I checked surfline and the cams didn't even pick it up, the report was flat, what a joke! HAHA

Nahh, man, I wasn't joking. Santa Cruz is way too crowded for my taste. Girls even surf there, and that David Sheff and his son do, too. No way, man.

Plus, a lot of them Santa Cruz guys think they are 50 cent or something. If you don't live near Pleasantville or Overtown, I can't hack that stuff.

Santa Cruz has the perfect climate. The perfect plethora of set-ups. The perfect drugs(well, their dope doesn't compare to out here). It has everything.

    Except it is too crowded.

Remember, I think 5 people is a crowd.

Gotcha, the parking situation was really bad and it was kinda crowded in the lineup, but I saw lots of empty spots along the long stretch up toward Halfmoon Bay, I guess if you wanted to get away you could go there but it's got its own draw backs

DPSUP, stayed tuned tomorrow or the next day, as I have an adventure to share. It has to do with one of the ads on here. Just can't get into it tonight.
