People who come to messageboards to pound their chests after an event are ridiculous. Why did you not say anything if it really bothered you? You sound like a chicken sh1t whiny kid coming on here with that. If you're such a tough guy, say it to him in the water or stay out.

Why me again? Doesn't matter. Tomorrow I'll be on AI running amock in the chopped soup. Who cares about catching waves, its about the paddling right now. I know that will be the only thing anyone will be able to do, just paddle, in the mess we got since last couple days. A few days back was nice offshore winds and we was shreddin'! ;)

How bout when people stand on top of you when in line, blowing their funky breath on you, breathing your air? Same situation - we all have personal space that is not a set space for all situations but changes based on the environment.

    Shut up. lol.
you are almost as bad as the guys come here pounding thier chests... luckily I didnt do that. I just said I was blowing off some steam over it. you can find all that in the first post which you failed to read while you were pounding your chest.

Seems like most rational people who surf have experienced this invasion of space... its not like we were on a point break, this was a sandbar break and there are literally miles of the same break in every direction... that's why this was an irritating experience. I mean he could have stayed 25 or 50 yards off and had the same waves and the same peace of mind that others were out if he needed any sort of rescue... and by the way, I said hello to the guy and he barely responded to me...

One of the more irritating things in surfing. You don't have to aggro the guy, just a 'hey, I'm curious. why did you decide to paddle out right here when the beach is totally deserted?'.

Or if you didn't feel like being so straight forward with it you could have been like " do you surf this street a lot?" and start it like that.

Maybe he was 'scared' to be out but more likely you guys were just sitting in a decent spot. Everyone says that they hate when other people paddle out next to them but the case is that you are just at the best section on the beach (usually a jetty or rock structure or whatever) and the waves aren't breaking as nice at other places. Summer is crowded deal with it.

its funny u said that,il quote my boss from a few years back who used to be a big time underground surfer, hed say a day of paddling is better than no day at all!!and i agree.i remember goin to sea bright during ts nicole and it was completely flat,so we just paddled from sea bright to long branch, just for the hell of it.it was good excercize but we were a little early and it looked the same everywhere, just dumping out right on the beach.always a good time if u make it,whether theres waves or not!

My opinion is you still take the lessor spot. As the space between fills in and surf actually gets crowded then all bets are off. I will agree if you are sitting on an actual "spot" like a an inlet jetty etc you can't expect to have the place to yourself no matter what the time of day.

No, I read. It you came here to complain about a minor problem you could've easily solved on your own. But instead, you came whining to a message board like a nancy instead. Your type are why he surfing community is going down the ****ter. Say something to the guy next time and stop adding to the pussified crowd in the water. Because you pussed out surfing etiquette is heading in its same direction and more people feel free to pick up a board and play Kelly Slater.

Lol shut up! You should stop surfing a soft top board and try doing some push ups so you have the ability to nav a lineup. Oh.... And read the original post again.
