Learn to read Stank... I'm not a Bernie supporter, never have been. I'm actually thinking of not voting for President for the first time in my adult life. Also, if you read my previous posts, there is nothing remotely socialist about my views... quite the opposite. Live and let live, work and let work, and achieve what you can achieve. I just don't want to c*ckblock anyone from a chance to succeed on their own hard work and merit...
I believe it... through and through. As for welfare, capitalism requires some level of unemployment. If everyone is employed then prices go up, there is no real labor market, etc. While a bunch of unemployed folks are so do to their own actions/inactions (laziness, criminal past, poor education), some are just the necessary 5% who need to be unemployed for our economy to work. We need a small safety net for those folks so we don't have to step over them going to the grocery store or out to dinner on Friday night. My believe about welfare is that those who receive it should be required to do public works projects... clean the parks, fill potholes, etc. No one should get something for nothin'.
FYI, the word 'cock' is not censored here. We had several threads aboot cock recently. Neither is the word 'ass'. But you can't say d*ck. The more you know...
What do we do with the profoundly physically and mentally disadvantaged? There are people who truly need our help due to no fault of their own. BUT... And where do we, and who draws the line? I worked in finance for several years before teaching. I once had a women apply for a loan and her income was SSI. I pried, (which is against lending laws) and asked her what her disability was: She didn't like most people and was afraid of open spaces. Seriously, twenty something and unemployable. I don't like spiders and people who drive slow in the passing lane... Can I have some cash?
Very good point regarding unemployment. I hate people that can help themselves who milk the system. We certainly should help those that can't but for those who can work should earn that check!!!
Neither of the "familys" you present do anything different than what guppies or swordtails do when reproductively isolated. That doesn't mean that if contingencies change that the end result will be the same. The mathematical probabilities are loaded against that. As for the journals you want to share.....well, I don't read People magazine, or Good Housekeeping...<grin>
I don't have all the answers... those folks don't count in the unemployment numbers though. Unemployment consists of people who are able to work, but don't. As far as where to draw the line on mental illness, that is something I know nothing about, other than limited anecdotal experiences. My guess is that therapists should make those types of determinations, but there is obviously room for significant abuse. There is no perfect answer, I suspect. Only spiders I'm scared of are those around bikini lines... and I really don't like people who drive slow in any lane.

Same thing applies....Pangea. Birds are descendants of dinosaurs, right?? They then have a common gene pool from which to draw from. Therefore, with each of those species, a certain amount of parallel evolution is to be expected. Kids today.......
