I'm confused..........

I mentioned this in another thread, but what I have always found entertaining and it mostly happened by weird drug addicts or crazy people on the streets, mostly in Baltimore, but when I have been called a "Cracker" by some angry black person. I've been called a white boy 1000 times, been called a honky even.... But when people use the term "Cracker" as an attempt to be derogatory, I just think, does this person even know that "Cracker" is a term derived from "Whip Cracker", so while that is a strange way to try and insult someone, I find it far more derogitory to the person who said it, than it is to me. Ohhh the irony.. It's almost like when black people call each other the N word as terms of endearment. Between you guys calling me a cracker, as if to be insulting or something and then you follow that by calling each other the N word... I think the whole community should have a meeting and re-evaluate the slang they throw around, because so many years later, I can't believe that people think that it's a cute thing to do, or that they are somehow paying homage to the past by keeping the word alive. Crazy to me, but anyway, I always thought the cracker thing was funny.... I have just never heard any other ethnicity or culture in this country use the derogatory stereotypes and racial slurs as terms of endearment for each other. Everyone else is outraged...

I'm German and Italian. That would be like me walking around to all my family saying, "Yo what's you WHOP" or "Whats up my Nazis".... Not cool, not cute, not funny. Can't understand why a lot of these words still exist.

 

when a minority culture uses derogatory terms to address one another it is an attempt to redefine the term. one of the reasons why racial insults may not bother you (whether you're conscious of it or not) is due to the fact that "white people" (although this is changing, but only on the surface/skin level) or financial powerful/stable, and politically influential policy makers are the ones that also like to write the dictionary.

these facts should also be taken as evidence as to why minority cultures/groups use terms to identify to & with one another. as an example, try watching any of the kids in the hall, scott thompson skits where he dresses up very effeminate, has a very over-exaggerated lisp and throws the term "f*g" around very liberally. there's a point to that, it's on purpose, and it's very intelligently done. the point of it is to make the term unoffensive, and almost complimentary. this term though, unlike the one you referenced though does not have hundreds of years of systematic and governmental controlled brutality and inhumanity attached to it. therefore, the word you referenced may be a little more hurtful, and hasn't been as widely accepted by others outside of the minority group when spoken. but if you can empathize with a context, then you can better begin to understand the definition of terms and the linguistics of discourse. all i'm saying is, it is what it is, and no one is innocent - everything is political, and all you can do is best understand your place and piece of the puzzle and how it relates to others.

I can agree with that. But with all of the history involved in that particular word, there has to come a time where a precedent is set and a real life application has to be given to this word. I understand that while using it is slang to identify with other members of their ethnicity, the acceptance of it has been challenge in basically every area of the work force, school and culture. People have been outraged for hundreds of years already about using the "N" bomb. I hate the word. I understand anyone finding bigotry and offense within it's use.

However, this day in age, where we have extremes, such as Donald Sterling losing a 2 billion dollar investment because of it's use. In the NFL last year, the league said to apply a rule in the league that there is an automatic fine and suspension for ANY PLAYER to use that word. This is because of a few instances in recent times, Johnathan Martin, The guy from the Eagles dropping the N bomb. The league wants it gone, and they want to be able to discipline anyone that uses it. The players union and Richard Sherman all shot it down and said that it was unfair to not allow African american's to use the term and that the rule would target them specifically because they use it as a term of endearment. Thats my point on stuff like that. You have to take a stand one way or the other, PERIOD....

If it's still too soon to ALL agree that certain racial terms should be banished from our culture completely, then when will we be able to move forward? When are we going to stop hearing it all over the radio and on TV? And the way this country is going, the term Minority covers a huge array of people. The hispanic community is fourishing here. All walks of life should agree that NONE of us should refer to ourselves or each other with those kinds of words. Regardless of their history.

Haha, the only time I have ever really looked at that list was when I was forced to click on Shark Hunter because that is the first step to ignore him. I saw the other 9 on the "last visited" list and I was shocked at first, but then I realized, OHHHH, that was the last 9 people to come on and ignore him. It was pretty funny.

But on the real, there must be a lot of users on here that don't speak on the forum. There is always tons of video content and photos being uploaded and most of the good stuff is people that aren't in the forums. I guess they are just making the marketing rounds, but it's surprising to see so much activity in the video and photo sections here, but none of the professional surfers or travelers take the time to say whats up on the forum... Interesting.

Same, I've done it accidentally from my kindle fire hd...and had a similar observatio zach, there's a couple guys that post a ton of photos, nice ones too, and never chime in.

Bear I think about 5 boxes...I can't recall much from the show b/c I watched it at such a young age, but I remember the lady had hair down to her chin, brown and kinda 80's styled, and I remember they had a special reading time/segment on the show.

that's why I live a virtually clean life.i don't do anything that can get me in trouble.i smoke a little reefer from time to time and that's it.i don't go off on stupid people in public,dont start fights,dont do nada.i work,surf,and smoke,that is all.sometimes I go target practice at the range.i could just go in the woods and bust off some shots but that's unnessary discharging of a firearm,a hefty crime even if u have a liscense.not too long ago I was hangin with my father in law,whos an old Irishman and a vet.he was showing off his 50yr old 45,and had the thing sitting on the table as we puffed some grass.another buddy came in and saw it and immediately left,not wanting anything to do with.smart move.its the little things that will fuk ya.

heres a wise old tale I heard while I was in the joint.a guy,clean drug free,no offenses,gets a call from his buddy to pick him up.he knows this person,hes a friend and trustworthy.well the friend just did a robbery and the guy picks him up and the cops pull them over and the friend bails.so this guy is the main suspect now,knows better to rat out a friend and ends up doing 5 years.when he got out he became a raging alcoholic,hated life and didn't give a fuk about anything anymore.didnt care about going back to prison,didnt care if his son grows up without a father,just didn't care about anything worth caring about.last time I seen him was at drc(which is an outpatient rehab/drug test thing parolees have to endure their first year out the can) and he was standing out infront of the building drinking a bottle of hennessy.that's the type of shyt that can happen if u don't choose your friends wisely
