Massachusetts had 92% insured prior to romneycare. The state was in a financial condition to enact healthcare for the remaining 8%. Just because it was right for mass doesnt mean the entire country should do it.

I'd rather my tax dollars go to helping the lazy azzes in the yoo ess than to be spent killing brown people where ever we find them.

The USPS is not a "government program". It's a private entity.

Yeah. Shark hunter how do you think I feel I'm watching a chunk of my pay go into those funds and unless those programs are reformed like the ryan plan ill never see a dime of it when I retire in 30 years. It was mismanaged and unsustainable unless they slap on more taxes...which def will to try stretching that out; and all in a grim forecasted economy for the middle class.

chicarrone, yes, Id rather help people than kill people too! Glad to know we have that in common.

there are problems with all the systems (municipal, state, federal pensions, social security). They are partially funded, this by definition makes them ponzi schemes which are criminal. But its ok cause gvt is doing it? superconfused how anyone can think this is ok

true dat Mr. Stop. When the gov bails out flimflam men, that purposely defraud millions of people, using the victims tax dollars pay them. Then blame the people scammed. It was their fault that they listen to someone they trusted to give them sound financial advice, when that someone knew they were dispersing a creamy behemoth from their cavernous bowels. that's called capitalism. ewe essay ewe essay!

Hey Guy, so you know the USPS is created as a government agency under Title 39, Section 101.1 of the United States Code which states, in part:

    (a) The United States Postal Service shall be operated as a basic and fundamental service provided to the people by the Government of the United States, authorized by the Constitution, created by Act of Congress, and supported by the people. The Postal Service shall have as its basic function the obligation to provide postal services to bind the Nation together through the personal, educational, literary, and business correspondence of the people. It shall provide prompt, reliable, and efficient services to patrons in all areas and shall render postal services to all communities. The costs of establishing and maintaining the Postal Service shall not be apportioned to impair the overall value of such service to the people.

Is denying people health care insurance due to preexisting conditions "rationing?" Is canceling a policy after a sickness "rationing?" Is having a low life time limit "rationing?"

This really shouldn't be a govt vs free enterprise debate. All retirement programs should be funded and vested. Plenty of private sector pensions have been spent by the company or dissolved via "bankruptcy" proceedings and mergers.

Social security was funded pretty well until they started taking the money out. Now its easy to call it a ponzi scheme because if you make it go away you are not held responsible for spending the money. This was done by both sides.

the vast majority of people support a safety net. People have issue when the safety net is used as a primary source of income by those who find it eaiser to collect the money than use it to better their lives. Same thing with govt in general. most understand the need for govt but the problem is the insane amount of waste: http://www.gao.gov/products/GAO-11-318SP
