Im gonna get me a beater. I think. But is 200 worth it? I have foamies to hack up, but there's nothing like pulling into a wave on a short foamie that was designed to be whooped. make my own, buy one, stick to regular surfing...

Get a stump instead. It's 250 and floats way better.

I thought about getting a foamie for summer to plow through the tourons like they plow through us

cut the first 2 feet off of a wavestorm and round the corners. total investment - $90 even if you go brand new

What I have done in the past is buy a ruined board off craigslist, fix it, and paint it. Ride hard and carefree.

I bought a 5'8 ...Lost Round Nose Fish off CL for $80. it had a broken nose that had been poorly repaired and busted tail. Chopped 2 inches off the nose and gave it a nice round shape. I fixed the tail by making a A-Sym swallow/squash hybrid (for fun, not science). Put a dope rasta paint job and I was done. I rode it for one season and sold it to a marine from J-Vegas for $250. I was actually sad to see it go. I fixed it intending to keep it, so it was purrfect.
