i have a paranoia that the waves might get good, and the feeling the swell forecast might increase every other hour. i am on this site way to much hoping to see if the future looks gift wrapped with waves......because we all know that having knowledge of waves before they come brings the body a big Happy lift, with suspence and excitement to fill the rest of the days to come. Until i can surf... hello im staystoked and i am a swellinfo addic....
i both agree & disagree w/ you...i'm deff. on here far too much. i keep it open as a tab all day at school. the first 2 tabs are the gradebook/attendance website & the school's email page. then swellinfo. i toggle back & forth at any down time during the day. b/c here on the east coast, you never know what might happen. however, there are some ways that i wish i'd never discovered internet surf forecasting. knowing that the waves will (or should) be good after school makes me jittery, like an addict that has to wait for his fix. i can't concentrate, my work (teaching) suffers, & i abuse several towns' speed limits on the way home, in order to get the most day light i can. i almost wish that it were still like it was when i was in high school, when you had to stop off at the beach on your way home & actually look at the ocean. & if there were waves, it was a huge jolt & a happy surprise. seeing a nice wave peel down the beach was like watching all the fatigue & aggravation from the day fall away & leave you refreshed & totally amped! i still stop off & look at the ocean on my way home, just b/c i like looking at water. & who knows? you might get lucky & something'll slip past the forecasters (nothing against them, of course) & you'll find a rare nugget or 2 by yourself. in fact, i had that happen in early february...the forecast was all red, all day. i just happened to stop by at my local break & what to my wondering eyes should appear but a stomach high peak & only 4 little surfers! as i was not planning on getting wet that day, it was a joyful sight, to say the least! but sometimes i wish that would happen more often. esp. in the summer. it would be great to score a nice head-high morning more or less by myself again. one of those swells that comes seemingly out of nowhere & lasts for maybe a day...
totally addicting, because Micah does the most awesome job. the problem is truly bad that instead of checking the waves or just paddling out we become dependent on swellinfo, but that's our fault,we're weak,so Micah is not to blame. today is a perfect example;the seaside heights person reported flat, but there's waves, and they are exactly what Micah forecast=South Mantoloking is a waist high E swell with light winds. Thanks again,Swellinfo!
I am on here alot too. I use to me on here more when I first joined up checking the forcast all the time but when I heard the forcast only updates at 5 am and 5pm . I stoped checking it all the time. I useually check it a few times a day to keep up on topics and such
im definitely guilty of checking every other hour to see if anything had changed. this past fall i saw a forecast for the following day change five or six times in one day. i agree with njsurfer tho, internet surf forcasting, despite its usefullness and how much gas it saves me, has made me an addict waiting for another bar stacked beside a tiny green (or blue or red) man. screw it tho... at least im not on facebook haha.
i would say i check 3 or 4 times during the winter per day not so much the forecasts, but in the summer...... i tell myself that it gets updated every hour
to dependant Waves are my choice of drug. That makes g-d my dealer, and swellinfo is my middle man letting me know what he has in stock. GET ME TO A SWELLINFO REHAB!!!
I am in Panama and after 5 days away from my regular diet of Swellinfo, my skin has been itching a lot and I have been having regular night time tremmors On second thought, maybe it was the food we ate Yes, I am the founder, and also an addict.
wow here i was thinking i was alone on this.....what do you think makes this whole website ordeal so damn addicting?
Well, this is definitely my favorite website...(besides facebook) but i love coming on and seeing new photos and new threads in the forums.
Yeah here and facebook are the to sites I am always one. I just got a BlackBerry so I can be anywares and check it
i think your forgeting somthing? how about seeing surf updates on the forcast!? but ye swellinfo did a good job turning a surf site into a very social place... it could explain the swellinfo withdral when im out of state
