...more surfing, less b*tching. Notice how I'm not nearly as active on the forums as I was over the winter? Time to start doing what we've been talking about. People complaining about internet forecasts when they could be outside, off their computers, is hilarious.

haha..true. between my insane work schedule and wrenching on the jeep i dont have time for much anymore.

No patience for the fair weather kooks coming out of the woodwork asking about when they can use 3/2s tho!! I guess I'd better get ready for the 'When Can I trunk it' threads.

Yeah I think we have all been busy . I have been working extra here and there to make up for what my wife would bring in while she was on materinty leave with the baby. She just went back to work Monday so I dont have to live at the shop as much as I have been . Plus like you said all the Weekend Kahuna's are coming out of the woodwork compliang about the reports a bit off not knowing that Swellinfo has been doing upgrades so everyone can enjoy this FREE site.

I dont know some people ***** at a free lunch I guess

Count me in the weekender crew for now. 60 hour work weeks are not fun if you're salaried! I don't get the criticism either. I only use this site as a guide, not the gospel.

    Here's some gratuitous Jeep porn:

i have a feeling that the folks whining about the forecasts not being "accurate" are the same kids who i have in class that whine about having to do research & write an original research paper, rather than just copying & pasting or they want me to walk them, hand in hand, thru each question on the test. they want to be spoon-fed everything & appear incapable of working for anything at all. any & all risk has been removed from their lives by over-protective parents & a society that's terrified of offending someone or hurting their self-esteem.

that said, here's a bottom turn:

What school is this? I'm glad that my parents don't baby me or give me things i don't deserve like other parents and teachers do. I always work hard for school, and make sure tthat I do quality stuff. I hate being labeled as "entitled" just because of the town in which I live (many rich snobs), because often times, I wish I was more blue collar.

That being said, now that the weather has been so much warmer, I too have not been too active on this thread because even if the surf isnt up to par, there's always a skateboard or bike or walking shoes to keep me busy in this beautiful weather.

i agree completely. which is why, as an educator, i refuse to buy into it.
i refuse to engage in any of that sort of behavior & have, on more than one occasion, offended my students. you aren't prepared? oh well. looks like you're gonna fail this test. guess you'll remember to study next time. you'd rather go on youtube & watch videos of your favorite band? ok, i'll see you after school. you've got detention now. thanks for wasting my time. you think you can get away w/ copying & pasting your research paper (or your homework) & i won't notice? guess what? i can use google, too. probably more effectively than you can. i'm smarter than you. if you try to be slick, you will get caught & i will make an example out of you. you're a moron.

i'd love it if the only thing i had to teach these kids in the classroom was academics. unfortunately, i'm doing a lot of ethics education, too. take pride in what you do, whether it's a class assignment or your job, it's a reflection of who you are.
a mentor of mine said it best: she had worked as a housekeeper at hotel w/ a poor mexican woman who had immigrated to the US (legally). this woman was one of the hardest workers my friend had ever met. one day, she asked the woman why she worked so hard when it didn't affect the amount of money she made. the woman's response was, "____, you might only be a s--t sweeper, but that's who you are. you should try to be the best damn s--t sweeper out there."

wb, it's supposed to be blocked, but the kids always find away around the blocking software. that's the problem w/ stuff like that: it's always 1 or 2 steps behind the cutting edge.

Nj, you need to focus on connecting with the students instead of preaching "your" ethics. Maybe the kids are on youtube because your class is boring and sucks, who knows, ask the kids. As "dumb" as you think they are, why can they "hack" the network. It is a different generation and if you were truly smart you would be able to connect with them instead of delivering punishment.

Yeah kids get around blocking software by going yahoo mexico and then having it translate to english

Most programs the schools use are only set up for enlish only but when you go to Yahoo mexico then to your site and translate it still sees it as in mexican and doesnt block it
