congratulations, you're a moron. the quotes should go around "ethics", not "your".

&, as previously mentioned (in another thread), i'm not there to be their friend. i'm there to teach them language arts & to be responsible. i outline my expectations & classroom rules very clearly & explicitly at the beginning of each course & don't deviate from them. if a student chooses not to follow those rules, it's their own issue, not mine. i told them from the get-go what was acceptable & what wasn't. watching youtube instead of completing your writing assignment=unacceptable. consequences will follow. texting during lecture notes or group reading=unacceptable (& unfathomably rude). consequences will follow. whether you like it or not, this is how the real world works.

also, i never said i think my students are dumb. certainly some of them are, but not the vast majority. they're just idiots. like most teenagers, a lot of them think that they can get away w/ anything & they know it all. i remember what it's like to be 15. it wasn't all that long ago for me.

We would always use proxy servers back when i was in high school, they eventually figured it out tho and blocked the sites. This seems to be what the mexican site basically is, a proxy. Theres no way for a computer program to keep up with every new site that can be used as a proxy, at least not yet. Im glad to see that kids are still innovating.

Teaching people is a hard thing to do . I am no teach by anymean but with my line of employment you sometimes have to teach people coming to the field how to test or diagnose issues with equipment fixing it right instead of waisting money by throwing parts into something till it finally works right.

I rember when passing notes and chewing gum in class was bad. Makes me feel old, If kids dont wanna take the time out to put a effort in there education you gotta look at there home life . If there parents are morons then most of the time so will there kids be as well

this is a useless statement unless you elaborate. do you mean the parents? administrators? fellow teachers? coaches? all of the above?

as i tell my creative writing class, specificity is the key to good writing.

    i think that's specific.
    adults.

you have generalized negative on children, your students.

    i have been specific.
i am also a teacher, and i am on their side.
my students, and all children, are generally awesome.

it's the adults that are the problem, and the adults that are to blame.

i disagree with you;no elaboration necessary.

when I was a teenager I was 100% self-centered and arrogant, I got into all sorts of trouble and caused a lot of people a lot of needless pain and suffering. Vandalism., fighting, stealing (if while surfing LB to AP and your car got ransacked during 1987-1990 it was probably me and I am sorry  ) but I never had to pay for my actions in any real way because I knew how to work the system - what I needed was someone to basically kick the living **** out of me and cause me to suffer real consequences for my actions. What saved me was I joined the Marine Corps and well lets just say my bull**** and attitude didn't work out so well for me there - point being kids are by nature self-centered - and to varying degrees - unable to process how bad decisions can lead to devastating consequences. Its up to adults in their lives to give them these life lessons. Not saying every kid needs to go to Boot Camp. But you do them zero favors by trying to "relate" to them or trying to conform your teaching to fit their needs & whims as opposed to setting clear guidelines and delivering real consequences when they falter. Just my .02

Actually NJ it sounds like he was trying to emphasize the fact the ethics belonged to YOU and not neccesarily everyone else. So while he may well be a moron it's not for quoting the wrong word.

Seriously, the guy is such a **** that he edits a forum for sh*t sake. Do us a favor and get a new job being a dildo because your such a d*ck. I bet this guy is the agro puss on the inside yelling at the people who actually surf. I was joking when I said "more b*tching, less surfing" but this guy is so lame he took it seriously, kook!

let me correct myself,i was or am confused.
this thread's only point was more surfing, less complaining, correct?
so if we talk about a jeep i guess is fine, there's no waves and no one's complaining, but i was wrong to complain about the guy complaining about children, though he too was complaining on this thread, which the whole point of is about not complaining.
    sorry,stoneybaloney.
    how's the waves?

The previous post was directed at NJsurfer. He clearly missed the point of this thread, thus, meaning the guy is a complete kook both in life and in surfing. I'm here to bust some chops (aka I have some time to kill) and to add my two cents to people that can use good advice for SURFING!!! Sh*t man, I need a trip bad!!! Back to surfing, who do u think is going to win Brazil?

if you look back at my original post, it was a comparison between the whiny students i have in class & the posters who whine about "inaccurate" forecasting on this site. never did i say that ALL my students were whiny & lazy. i will admit that it got a bit out of hand. s--t happens.
as for my correcting other people's grammar, i'm an english teacher. the wanton mutilation of the language bothers me. when you use the wrong word, you change the meaning of your sentence. it doesn't matter whether or not the reader can decode what you're talking about, it's wrong. i correct my students' grammar when they speak in class, too. once they understand WHY what they said was wrong, they get into it & start correcting each other in class. pretty cool, & slowly but surely, their grammar is improving. while that may make me ****, i don't really care.

& i'm reasonably sure that i've surfed heavier waves than 80-90% of the people posting here. so calling me an "aggro kook that sits inside & yells at everyone" is ludicrously inaccurate & just absurd.

el porto, if he was trying to emphasize the fact the ethics are mine, he should have italicized or underlined the word, not put it in quotes. quotes indicate speech or something of dubious value. italics & underlining add emphasis.

sorry to get the thread off track. to make up for it, here's a picture of a guy punting:
