Then all I ask is a timeframe? When is the past considered history? When do we accept the past and move on. God knows my family moved on like 10 years after they were nearly starved from existence by the British. They emigrated to America gave the British the raspberry and never looked back. Come to think of it I'm considering moving back, I want to picket the British company that wants to put a fiber optic cable through my ancestral potato patch.
Yeah. That's pretty much how I did it.... I started at 100... I'd do 100 before I left in the morning, no matter how many I could do at a time. I'd want to get done quicker so I'd push myself as far as I could go... Before I know it I pushed it up to 150 because I was done with 100 and still felt like I could do more. Then 200 now 250. And I do the same after work... And If I'm tired or rushed and only do 200 in the AM I do 300 when i get home. As long as I get 500 in for the day
So did this get you into great shape? I hate the gym and always find myself on the treadmill listening to music and going so slow I'm almost walking backwards.
Yup... I am definitely stronger and in better shape than when I went to the gym... I also started stretching, because I hurt my back last year, so I am more flexible too. I do my first set of push ups, stretch for a minute then the second. I really do feel better than I did 10 years ago... and I've always been in decent shape, I just feel better now.
It is said that Herschel Walker (remember him?) credited his physique to his workout consisting of pushups and situps and ZERO weight training. The guy is still a beast. Treadmill? You might be better off walking 2-3 miles in your neighborhood, don't ask me why but it just seems to work better for me, mostly as an aid to burn off some extra calories. I've never been much of a cardio guy.
+1 Beat me to it. Walker is a prime example. I just knocked out some push ups, sit ups, and kettle bells.
Herschel Walker is a beast. You guys are all talking like gals. The only appropriate description of push-ups is "I can do push-ups forever, or until my pump gets so big that I can't reach the ground." Rookies. Deadlift 135 for 25, then do ice skaters until your body gives out. 3 times. (Except your body never gives out) As for history---- dude if you're living on a reservation, it's not history. You're in some depraved poverty hell. And if you're lucky you can sell out and guck corny necklaces during tourist season for a couple bucks if you're in a tourist trap but for the most part yore anchored to the poverty cycle. So history isn't yet history. When should the Irish give up on Northern Ireland? When is that history? When should the Québécois give up. Dude I remember car bombs growing up. It wasn't that long ago. So basically it's "when should people just stop caring about old world values and start being consumers that don't identify with Conan level sheet."
With push ups or any weight lifting, it's the last few reps that are beneficial. Pushups wise, depending on your max fail amount, it's the last 15 that are doing any benefit. If your max fail is 25 then it's those last 5 that are key; the 20 prior are just setting the table. Do not waste your time targetting a certain number per day; and by doing so possilbly not going all out on your sets so you can achieve that total number. Instead, go balls to the wall for one set to maximum failure till your arms collapse on the last rep. Do this every other day...NOT everyday; and you will see great gains in strength. As they say go hard or go home. Everyone's body is different however we all need rest. If you are doing them correct, you won't be able to do them everyday. If you can do them every day...then what good are they. You are just going through the motions. Make them hurt, come out shaking..flex in the mirror for you wife and kids. I do mine right before dinner. Can barely hold the fork afterward.
Not sure about the Irish, I'm an American citizen, so are they and they don't have to live on the reservation. They can move anywhere in the country to find work. Now that we are talking about the Irish I bet if you did a DNA sample of everyone in this country that claims to be a "native American" a full third would have Irish Blood in them. Did you know that there are 10 times more people in the US of Irish decent than live in Ireland itself? Not pertinent to the conversation, just a cool stat.
Yeah if your looking just to get bigger and less flexible listen to Hack and max out til you can't hold a fork every other day... If you want endurance and to bit fit listen to me, the military, or any sport where you do daily push-ups.
for my back, I only do pullups and calisthenics. back has never felt better. i have no use for a big back. for shoulders i do these crazy high rep drop sets. i can barely peel my suit off my shoulders for some reason they grow wicked fast. 3-4 times a year i will toss up 135-185 just to check where i am at, but for the most part its these weird cardio drop sets i got into. side raises starting at 40s x 7, 35x 7, etc, down to the old lady 3lb'ers till my arms fall off. then this combo with 10b dumbbells: front raise, side raise, side raise to overhead, arnold press, repeat backwards and forwards, until my arms collapse. for rear delts i pull the rope at just above eye level, but i lean back and strike a balance between body weight and balance, for 30 reps per set. for traps i just do cleans, with no more than 95lbs. sets of 25+, occasional press just to give the constant range of motion a break. bis and tris i do these crazy blitz workouts, 5 bi exercises, 15 reps each, no break in between, then rest for 90 seconds, repeat three times. same for tris. chest: def a sucker for the bench. took 10 years off of benching. started tossing up freak weight on a hammer strength and got back into it. i bench heavy. it makes my cock bigger. after that, i do a high rep blitz of cables, push ups, bosu push ups, incline rotating 1 arm dumbbell press, and dips. flex naked in the locker room and make extended eye contact with everyone. fluff nuts after each flex. repeat.
Brilliantly said! I have nothing to add, just wanted to compliment. Also, as a 30 year fan of Bad Religion and an admirer of the works of Roger Waters, you were able to accurately guess who I didn't vote for
