That's thing. It's not that i don't want barrels. Hell, I'm going to indo FOR barrels. But there's a difference between a wave that barrels then opens up then maybe barrels again and a wave that is just a super critical straight barrel. I actually looked into that book. You might of been the one that suggested it actually. The spots im looking at seem perfect. Lots of barrels. But some open face here and there. People tend to take me the wrong way when i say i prefer open face. Both are awesome. I got no problem with barreling waves. Like i said, just lacking in that department compared to my open face surfing. Im not worried about it. Was just curious as to the logistics of it.
The trick to surfing barrels is to not dodge them. Once you get inside, you'll see the door open or close. Just keep calm and aim for daylight.
Maybe go to a easier spot to surf with open face waves the first couple of days... then go to a barreling wave when you're tuned up and ready.
