Read on SurfLine about a surfer's trip down to mainland mexico during covid times. Had a link to it saying non-essential travel (tourism, recreational) to Mexico and Canada banned until late Sept, been ongoing since March. Article didn't say when that surfer went. To thee cali folks, what's the dilly? San Diego trip upcoming, would like to know
Flying I to Mexico city then into h.u.w then driving to salulita for surf in 3 weeks. Land border appears to be closed to non essential travel but the airlines get ya there with a 3 day covid positive test result
One guy says you can't get back in. He has a buddy that works Border Patrol. Another says no and several beaches are closed. I'm thinking that driving over would be a REALLY bad idea right now.
And one more report: "I have some friends that went down to this past weekend to La Fonda and they didn’t have any troubles, for what it’s worth."
They will welcome you with fireworks and ask you to stay forever! The waves there are really nice and so are the people. They need tourism badly right now. They especially miss Americanos...
Pretty sure I've seen a couple of YouTube videos of people surfing North Baja during the lockdown. I'm not quite sure if the closure is still being fully enforced. Here's a link with the contact # to the San Ysidro Port of Entry into Tijuana: https://www.sandiego.org/plan/visitors-information-services/border.aspx Know before you go
