I've been watching the swell forecast for the panhandle since Tuesday before the invest developed and conditions were looking promising this weekend for Panama city and Cape San Blas. Since then the forecast has been off and on. I'm wondering if anyone here is familiar with Cape San Blas and could share some knowledge. Any spots to check? Do you think it would be worth the drive vs. Panama city? Pretty early for predictions about the storm but what are thoughts about this weekend for the gulf?

wow cape san blas looks like its going to get some great surf... how big of a swell can these gulf shore beaches handle???
I know naples has some good sandbards but they are pretty close to the shoreline.... I would think that anything over 4 to 5 foot would be too much for it to handle even with good wind conditions...

A weird year for sure. Usually at this time of the year I'm watching baseball instead of being tuned into the weather channel. The season started really early, not that I'm complaining. Can't wait until the peak season ;)

    Better eat your wheaties! hehehe

All of the hurricane seasonal predictions were forecasting just a slightly above average year (much lower then the last couple of years) due to a transitioning El Nino. But, water temps are definitely high along the East and Gulf coasts, so this is creating these small storms that are developing along the coasts. This might not equate to a high number of storms that develop off of Africa, but often these smaller storms that develop closer to home can be great.
