97% of hurricanes lay within the season (1 june to 30 november) but storms have been known to lay outside this margin....with this in mind is there any development likely of 97 into any sort of tropical activity???

this was a large low that developed in the central atlantic that is current sending E ground swells our way. I guess its being investigating for gaining tropical characteristics, but Its eventually going to drift northward. In any case, there's been a decent amount of fetch from this system towards the East Coast.

kind of shows how these winter storms are WAY bigger than tropical systems. This non tropical low that gave us 2-3 days of chest high waves was at 35 N 40 W. Closer to Portugal than it is to us.

Almost no way a hurricane in that same location would even be giving us a bump!
