this guy is selling his 7'4" Rawson quad it is 22 inches wide and 3 inches thick. He is asking $400 but that is negotiable.
Thats what i was thinking $400 is a bit steep if i can talk him down i may get it. And i figured maybe the volume may help me as i am still a novice surfer. Its hard finding a used board for a reasonable price in my area for some reason
this board isnt worth existing, wtf kinda shape is that, a performance stand up paddle? or are you the great humungus?
Nah im pretty small only weigh 130 pounds i not familiar at all with shapes or sizes of surfboards. I was just looking for a used board but at that price +100 i could get a custom one from what my friend is telling me.
You might get a sore back carrying that thing up the beach against the wind! Try a fish. Under 6'8". More like 6'2" and 3" thick and 22" wide. You can thank me later. Spend no more than $250 on your first board, go to the used racks in the shops, or craigslist or this sites classified has lots better deals than that giant piece of Shaka Doo Doo.
Lotta volume there. Maybe 52-55 litres...? Since it seems from your comments that you apparently will have only one board (yes?) for this right coast summer, hey, it's not a bad pick. Enables you to go out in many conditions. I'm 220 lbs & I have a board like that for certain conditions on certain days on the right coast, aka, for days of weak surf when I don't feel like flailing but also don't want to go logging. My 7'6 is my shortboard on some days. Having said that, I sometimes take it out on other, bigger days, too, because why not. Mix it up. Part of the beauty of surfing. At your dims, you'd bob around out there like a cork: it's a lotta board for 130 lb dude. But, you still should catch everything you go for & thus have lots of fun. And it will be more maneuverable than you might think. Offer 200 bucks, give a little ground, settle at 250-275. He won't have a line out the door for that stick. One man's humble opinion.
I don't want to go to short but also not to long, something like a fun board i guess? when i get down to the obx i will check out some shops for used boards.
I would keep looking around. If you are new to all this, which is sounds like you are... Don't buy the wrong board. Get a 7'6-7'9 funshape egg or something. With a thruster setup. You can get an old beater for $150 probably. If you don't have very specific reasons for surfing a board like that, you are probably setting yourself back. Get something easy to ride, that will translate into other boards when you can get more. I would stay away from a Quad and Anything that big and fat.
Yeah i am still fairly new to the sport thanks for the advice, the only thing is that it seems hard to find good deals on craigslist around here...
