i was surfing 28th st in OCMD at the time they were building the Dunes high rise and got a nail stuck in my foot. walked to my place with it in there and never felt a thing.
Question - how often did you guys go hypo? Like really bad hospital type hypo.[/QUOTE] Hospital? Many a day of slurred speach. I used to hate when my hands got so could I could'nt turn the key to open the door to my truck without my thumb popping out of joint. The floor board of my datsun rusted out from getting in with my suite on and cranking the heat. Worst idea me and buddy ever had was to put our wet wetsuites in hot water so they'd be warm when we put them on. Felt good on the paddle out then all the open pores sucked in the cold water! Coldest I've ever been!
Went out a week or so ago and the children had f*cking wet suites on because the air was about 60. The water temps are still in the upper 70 here. WTF?
dood - i'm not a dr. and - truth be known - i've never even stayed in a HIexpress; but lap swimming in a pool might help w/that...both dose tings. go long and slow and work on technique not speed or distance...
the neck thin is just from age and overuse all those years. I think it was the old suits. I would get nasty neck pain from the lack of flexibility. I do swim a ton.
Ohhh I remember upgrading from an open seamed 3mil to the new fangled glued, taped and blind stitched 5mil Piping Hot suit. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I still had to duct tape the gloves and boots though. Who the hell did they use for their sizing??? The legs on a Large-Tall would only fit a double at-the-knee amputee.
when i was like 11 and i went out on october 31st in nj wearing a spring suite underneath my cousins oversized 3/2 full suite lol
When i was a kid, the first winter I surfed was in a wetsuit that was given to me from my neighbor. It was a dive suit from the early 80s... This was the mid- late 90s, thing was two piece, front zip, seperate hood like 10 mil in the core. Could barely move, thing sure was warm though, it wasnt long before my old man was like dude we gotta get you better suit. haha funny to think about how little matters when youre 12
Oh yeah and did I mention that this was before leashes were invented ...so if you lost your board you had better be able to swim.
Yeah the first one piece suits had rolled and stitched seems that left bloody rashes under your pits ,around your neck, and just about any place they came in contact with ...always had a jar of vasoline with us to lube up before suiting up , nothing perverted here just survival .
