Micah shuts down threads that become a huge argument between members and bans people for being assholes.

 

That is what private messages are for. Flame threads can be funny but they eat up bandwidth having a thread go 10+ pages of ranting and *****ing between two members. It can get pretty rowdy before Micah steps in but when it gets crude or too juvenile it's got to get shut down or else he would spend all his time reading the thread to make sure it does not get too out of control. Keep in mind although funny the biggest wave thread had a thinly veiled death threat in it. I'm sure it was just big talk from somebody behind a computer but still if something did happen to push it further and some body was killed the site host can be held liable (I write commercial insurance for a living) and this is why many carriers do not insure web sites that have forums or interactive blogs. Sorry for the diversion there. I agree fights on here can get funny as long as it is under control.

 

Carter makes the sound point for thread closure. Micah has to shut certain threads down; this isn't FB or any of the wild west forums that devolve into shpeckle & spew. The big wave thread was close to going vitriolic nuke. Koki ended it on the note that it should have ended on, and Micah shut 'er down on that note. Props to both.

 

Let's not forget Micah doesn't do all, if any, of the moderating. Matt used to and now it's someone who does not post here, or that was the explanation after the big hoopla when Matt stepped down as Moderator.... or something like that.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure they give plenty of warnings before banning someone.

I think they're pretty much spot-on. If you want a never-ending chitt talking personal attack fest, go to the SURFER forum.

Some people may have issues with that. I'd just say, go on over to FB & do ya thang there.

To date, Micah's displayed pretty good judgment on when to shut it down. And you know how he attained this ability? The school of hard knocks. This site was a spew zoo last year. It's a lot more intelligent now, with some pretty cool posts by some cool heads who been there, done that. No complaints at all. One man's humble opinion.

If I thought you were an idiot I'd tell you straight up. You might be giving yourself a bit too much credence & thus taking offense where there is no offense to be taken. Your opinion is as valid as any other opinion. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they think that you're an idiot.

I was kinda surprised the thread got shut down as well, but really it was a nonsense thread anyway, so who cares. It was fun while it lasted. What's great about this site is you can just create a new one, like this one, and do the same exact thing till it gets shut down too.
