I'm looking to go away mid January to a tropical place with consistent surf that is relatively close to Cancun...Struggling to find a spot thinking about Ecuador and Barbados. If anyone has any knowledge feel free to ramble on. Budget $2000 for 10 days
Neither Ecuador nor Barbados are "close" to Cancun, really. Direct flights may be a problem and will magnify your distance from there. PR may have direct flights there, but I doubt it; I bet you would have to go to Miami first, as you would from Barbados?? but I could be wrong. Other than that, I have no solution for you. Good luck, I hope you find a way.
geography was one of my strong suites for whatever odd reason. Closest is Belize to Cancun. There are places to surf down the strand below the airport in Cancun, but it's only like an hour past till you get to Belize. i say an hour but ehhh, could be more. Belize has several spots that are pretty low key, not on all the surfers' radar like CR or Nicaragua. do your research to find the spots there
I don't get it, why does it have to be close to Cancun? Are you flying from Cancun? Driving? Clearly not since you indicated you were looking at an Island. I think the Maldives are pretty close to Cancun, that may work for you...
Based on this December, I wouldnt come to SD. It's been so small and cold here (35-45 in the AMs) Hopefully something on the horizon for this weekend.
Thanks for the responses..I'm thinking ecuador (i know not near cancun its fine)...Anybody have a preference on the region; Ayampe, montanitas, salinas, or playas?
I've always wanted to hit up the Caribbean side of Panama (Red Frog) It always looks super sick in videos. Tis the season.
Sounds awesome. Would be interested to hear how you make out on your budget. Just checked out flights and they are shockingly inexpensive.
