One spring evening the ocean was littered with fragments of moon jellys that had gotten smashed up in the shore pound, and it was shoulder high choppe and every time I caught one and paddled back out I'd get hit. Finally, I got it in the face while duck diving, and caught one in and went to the pool bar adjacent to the resort where it was breaking.

I ordered a double shot shot of tequila and the bartender looked at me and saw the welts and laughed and she said IN THE FACE! That one hurt.

Vacationing with my mom in Hilton Head when I was in 6th/ 7th grade. We took the bikes out on the beach and stopped for a dip on a nice summer day. I was in the water for no less than 30 seconds, before I got one of the most excruciating pains on the back of my thigh. I jumped up out of that water so damn fast. Legitimately thought I was bit by a gray suit.

I got a MASSIVE sting on the back of my thigh. It was purple for two weeks. Couldn’t walk for a day. Wish I’d have gotten a photo. I’ve been stung by plenty of jellyfish, but nothing like this jawn. Always thought it might have been a man o’ war or something of the like.

Haven’t been stung in years tho.

^riding bikes on beach on HHI is cool. It’s a perfect beach riding set up.

So...not to be graphic b/c I know there are a couple of biatches on here (Betty, you know I’m not referring to you and sorry in advance).

I got stung right up in the azz! I mean it was outer banks, fun little waves, 16 or 17 and BAM! It was like a fire cracker went off on my rear end! The worst part was the 2 to 3 days of ‘having to go to the bathroom’. Talk about being Ginger...it was like, who’s the Bitch now!

Inside upper leg area....6in. below the nuts...Port. Man-of-war, felt like I was being kicked in the Nads over and over again, the pain would not stop, I was literally doubled over for well over an hour, the stingers actually burned the skin, god damn did that hurt.

As a kid... swimming as far as I could underwater... skimming along the bottom... in the Cape May Canal. Running out of air, I arched my back, tilted my face up and started swimming to the surface. Came up right under a giant Lion's Mane... got me in the face, neck and chest. Ended up getting rushed to the doctor for steroids.

In the past 6 years, no jellyfish encounters here. A bigger nuisance are those biting flies, the little black ones, during summer off-shores.

When I was in my teens, after surfing in jellyfish infested waters, I had to go to an eye doctor, my left eye was all swollen up and driving me nuts. He numbed me up with drops, pulled the lid back, and somehow extracted tentacles from behind the eye lid. The swelling went down within an hour.

Sometimes we get crazy amounts of cannonball jellies. Have not seen them in a couple years though.

We would pick them up and throw them at each other in the line up.

So one time my buddy picks up a big, dark red son-of-a-bitch and hurls it at my face. I put my hand up to block it. I get a direct hit on my palm and the whole thing explodes.

Jellyfish gunk in my eyes, nose, mouth... everywhere. That shit burned like shit for about 30 minutes ha
