I am just curious, what is it like at the Jersey Shore this summer in the areas that got effective -> LBI and north?
Can't really speak for Seaside and points north, but for north of Ship Bottom I'd say there were some changes that wouldn't be atypical for a winter with a lot of noreasters. Some of the bars have seem to have grown in size and offer a more consistent wave. But some of the bars have been filled in and are now fickle. One of the more well known spots has seemed to improve dramatically for the first time in 5 years. Although some may have taken notice prior to Sandy. Unfortunately the "emergency dredging" that has begun will likely return this spot to dormancy for a few years. You could maybe say Sandy accerlerated some of the erosional effects that winter storms would create over a season or two, but that's only a qualitative observation.
In the Belmar area its running pretty strong. This past weekend was crazy down there.Absolutely packed.Don't understand why some people trash our state when so many people take vacations here.
Belmar was a mad house this weekend. surf wise the sand bars are pretty wonky still and they just started dredging around Shark River Inlet with the Currituck. True
Live in Monmouth Co, and frequent northern NJ beaches usually. Sea Bright still has a lot of empty storefronts, but coming back bit by bit. Was down in Seaside/Lavellette over the 4th visiting family. S.H. is still a mess, but was crowded for the holiday. It seems that the businesses down there that are open, the numbers are way down.
Well, I certainly didn't expect a normal summer, but its good to hear that businesses are open and people are still flocking to the beach. Where I live in Delaware, people are saying its busier then normal, because a lot of people that would have gone to Jersey are coming down here.
pretty much everything is open for business, it seems things are on the upswing. The weird thing to me after this winter is driving through belmar everything fixed up like it never happened (aside from matisse/mcdonalds being gone)
Like Irish said... Sea Bright is still struggling. Most of the stores are still closed. A lot of work still needs to be done. If anyone has some spare time they can still use help. Most other area's are looking much better. Long Branch was mobbed over the weekend
Hey just wondering which beach would be best to surf at and which street. i went up a month or so ago and normally i just go to division street of surf city and shipbottom but when i checked it out like 8 streets down at ship bottom was looking nice. thanks if you can give me a heads up im heading there for 2 weeks maybe ill get lucky haha
seems like a normal summer so far with the one exception being that the ACOE is systematically filling in every good break within a 10 mile radius of me..
Its hit or miss north of LBI........changes every 10 blocks or so......from no damage to utter devistation.......tons of out of state plates.......there are alot of families/owners who aren't rebuilding....some places still look like war zones.
Uhhh guys..... Mr. Tarasiewcz is asking where all the best spots are. Can someone please post on the internet where all the new spots are?!?
North to about 6th in OC is alright, they just finished dredging and the bars are all out of sorts, still fun if you go to the right spots, i am waiting to see how it holds the winter swells, either gonna be amazing or atrocious. The water used to come right up to the boardwalk now they replenished so much sand the beach is about a quarter mile out
we might not be as big as Jaws.. Jaws" (Pe'ahi) is the name given to a big wave surfing reef break on the island of Maui in the U.S. state of Hawaii.[1] but we get barrells on the REG up here brahh. i recommend that if you come here you bring your A game brahh..
