    Yes tomorrow is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. For all the Christ following surfers out there in SI land, let us remember how important this birth is. Be bold and be HIS hands, feet, and voice that we are called to be.
    For all of you who are searching and wandering why you have the day off....here is GODS WORD explaining the event.

    Luke 2:1-20

    New International Version (NIV)
    The Birth of Jesus

    2 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

    4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

    8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

    13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

    14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

    15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

    16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

    You know the 25th was chosen by the 4th century Roman Church to supplant the existing pagan feat on the 25th right? The early church that was begun by the disciples was far more concerned with Jesus's death than his birth since it was by his death that man was saved. This is why we know that the he was crucified on March 25th but there is no true record of his birth date.

    Most biblical scholars believe he was born in the spring or early fall based on the fact that shepherds would never keep their folks in the field during the dead of winter when it was cold and usually rainy and since the fields were bare as it was winter. Also the Romans would not likely ask folks to travel during December for the census since the weather would make conditions far to difficult and many would just stay put.

    And PS, I don't think anyone is searching or WANDERING (I'm guessing you meant wondering but maybe not) why they have tomorrow off, they are just happy to be off.

    I would say it's more like fables, stories to help you live your life but not always based on facts.

    Christmas is an invented holiday, created to make more money by the marketing geniuses who sold America on everything from Lucky Strikes to Lexus.

    The bible is 2,000 year old ya-ya written by humans of that era who were trying to figure out wtf was going on. What's changed? People still don't understand wtf is going on and they seek easy, compliant answers.

    If you need someone like wayne the insane telling you or directing you how to live, you're a lemming. The cliff is thata-way.

    Live your life in a good, healthy way, be kind to others, take care of your knees, show respect, care for animals, don't fully trust anyone who says they know a better way than you do, enjoy alcohol & rec drugs in moderation if you can if you can't then don't do either, yes to meditation, try to get away from the mind noise, antibiotics, poisonous food, poisonous drinking water and consumer culture of the western world & find something that makes you happy without hurting other creatures.

    And vote for me in the HOTY 2015 poll because this forum is life-sustaining for my troll posse.

    Wayne in NJ Monday? I pulled up next to a Jeep with Fla. plates and Cristian surf cult stickers on it, at the pier. It was new, orange, and fully tinted out.

    Ironically the sun, not son, stops making its journey to the Southern Hemisphere around the 21st (called death for lack of movement North or South until the 25th). On the 25th the sun begins it's journey back toward the Northern Hemisphere (called the birth or resurrection because the sun is on the move again after appearing to be stuck (dead) in the Southern Hemisphere for 3 days.

    The only birthday we are experiencing today is that of the longer days to come. The sun is the giver of life, not the son. The sun, among other things grew this planet like a Chia Pet not Jesus. If Jesus was real, I don't think he'd be cocky enough to claim the many intricacies of the universe as his own personnel creations.

    thank you for the birthday well wishes, you all get at least 5/16 of the 72 virgins that the other prophet promised, but these ones are 87.5% hotter, so it balances out. I advise you leave the prosthetic leg(s) on the fraction girl, it makes for better leverage.
