Agreed on all points, however I have never lived in Hawaii, which I think would truly fuk me in the head for life. The last sentence is the most poignant. I could make more money doing the same job somewhere inland, but I choose to live a more modest life so I can be less than 10 minutes from my happy place. Is it limiting though? I don't know. What is the opposite of a 'limited' life, anyway? If it's happiness, I don't think i'm limited at all. I get to experience a moment of zen almost every time I paddle out. Perspective. OK, out of my head and back to work....
Hey Toonces, if you leave your dream jobbe in RI, can you train me and hook a cracker up? I wouldn't be able to deal with tropical spiders anyway, I'll take my little Rhody waves.
What I mean by limiting is that if you make proximity to surf a factor in where you spend your life, the world gets much smaller.
No amount of money can cure depression. If you ever think about moving back, just know, 95% of the entire EC surfing population is jealous AF of your current situation. (the 5% are the Cokfvcks & Barrys of the world) #9/12
I'm with you. Not disagreeing, just thinking out loud (or in writing). Not sure my post even made sense.... coffee fueled philoso-babble haha
I could make a lot more money if I headed out to the Midwest.worst part is I actually enjoy my work..but I'm born n raised in nj,been here forever, only 10 minutes from the waves.i make a decent living, have a decent little house, have some decent boards, smoke excellent maryhewanas.i don't ask for much in life, just a few things and I'm good.i don't need to be rich to be happy...but some more doe would be nice
Kansas flat lands. Not all that much different from looking out over Lake Atlantic from VB for much of this summer...
