Such a great moment for the UFC and Dana White knows it. While on camera he will say the company line, but he woke this morning smiling to the fact that the sports world is talking UFC over college football, Red Sox Yankees, and the NFL.

On one hand some people will be turned off by that. On the other hand it will be used to sell a rematch. Dana will say it’s disgusting and blah blah blah and then he’ll turn around to use it to promote the rematch. Just like he did when Conor attacked the bus and threw a dolley into the window and shattered it. But to do that after winning the fight was silly. You can’t attack the coach of your opponent under any circumstances and your teammates can’t jump in the octagon and attack Conor with bare nuckle cheap shots, that’s called assault, which is why they got arrested. Kabib attacking the coach is assault too but they let him get away with it.

Your right, and i agree. But what im saying is it went beyond trash talk. That's not promotion nor is it good sportsmanship. Disrespecting and mocking someone's religion. The coward comment about his father was not simply calling someone a coward... there was a deeper political type meaning behind that. Not cool. Talking smack is all good but there is a line and i think it was crossed.

With that being said, connor has acted a fool multiple times. And it's "promotion". The whole bus thing was used to promote the fight. Kahbib gets into a scuffle and suddenly it's "unprofessional".

Now don't confuse my words. Two wrongs don't make a right. And i DO think kahbib did act unprofessional. Im just saying when connor acts unprofessional it's promotion and hype and a story line. Kahbib doesn't get that pass.

Oh and by the way DP...... don't know if you saw this. But connor actually punched one of those guys first. Kahbib jumped out, connor climbed up on the fence where there were kahbibs guys... connor threw a punch....THEN they attacked him from behind.

Again, not saying any of it is right and not justifying anything. Just saying, we all know your a connor fan. They didn't just attack connor for no reason as you imply.

When Conor attacked the bus I called him an idiot and felt it was unprofessional as well. But I knew it was all promotion. He meant to throw the dolley but I don’t think he meant to shatter the window though. But yeah, he went a little too far.

I just watched it again sober. It looks to me like Kabib’s teammate with the black shirt jumped in the cage and then came at Conor and they both swung at almost the same time. Then the red shirt guy hit Conor from behind. I don’t think Conor started it, but more or less tried to defend himself. None of it would of happened if Kabib didn’t jump out of the octagon and attacked Conor’s BJJ coach.

Conor started it with the stupid bus crap which was all promotion....khabib saw how much more interest there was after that and is playing it up for a bigger pay day...
    he will get his check.
    He will keep the belt.
Rematch will do huge #s... WWUFC loved ever second of it

Yeah i definitely think if kahbib didn't do what he did everything else wouldn't of happened. By the way DP, i wasn't talking about you specifically when i said connor's actions get labeled as promotion. I meant connor fans and the ufc in general. You do a pretty good job of being unbiased.

Im honestly curious if this is staged. Think about it. The bus thing was used as promotion. This whole deal. The "trash talk" being much deeper than normal trash talk.... it almost seems to perfect for dana. If someone threw a dolly through a bus window in any other sport.... they wouldn't be playing that sport any more. Connor has acted crazy before and it's glorified in a way, kahbib does it and there's uncertainty if he will still hold the belt, ever fight again, ect ect. Is the difference in response because connor is their cash cow or is it just to create a interesting story line now? The bias is almost to ridiculous to be taken seriously.

I don't think it's choreographed, but i do wonder if dana tells these guys "go over the top, we need to sell a rematch".

By the way, side note. Anyone else surprised connor tapped? That choke didn't look sunk in. Maybe it's his beard, but it looked like Connors chin was down, blocking kahbibs arm from getting to the neck. I know from experience when you block a rear naked choke like that and the other guy is cranking on it, it hurts like hell. But it's just pain and your not going to go unconscious. I would tap from the pain, but find it odd that connor would.

I could be seeing it wrong though.

All good points. I thought he gave him his back and tapped quicker than I expected given the choke wasn’t sunk in 100% as you noted. Watching it again, it almost felt intentional but I won’t go there.

Like you said, the placement of that choke is still painful, more like a crushing neck crank, but he wasn’t going to sleep from that. He wasn’t even defending it aside from his chin. Am I surprised he tapped? No. This is how he loses, he has yet to be finished due to strikes, always a submission. So if he was gonna lose, it was going to be a sub or a decision.

How much of this was preplanned or choreographed is unknown. But I do know Dana is a master of fight promotion and is less than honest when it comes to this side of the business to make big time money.

Funny how Conor expects a rematch just after the fight. Same happened with Diaz, and then he came back to win. He’s probably hoping for the same here. I always say, follow the money and you’ll find a lot of the answers you seek. Because at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.

My opinion has always been that it needs to make sense. Close fight? Rematch. Completly one sided, no rematch needed. A rematch here is nothing more than a pay day.

I would actually really like to see another diaz fight. That one makes sense. Plus i love watching Nate fight.

Love Nate. He’s good for the UFC, I don’t think Dana likes him or his brother too much though.

Another Diaz fight would be fun. Also, a fight with Max Holloway would be good too, that’s if Connor is willing to drop back down to 145lbs. I don’t know if he wants to cut that much weight again though. There is also Tony Ferguson who called him out, and if he can get a win 1st he could even fight Tyron Woodley at 170lbs.

But knowing how Conor operates, he’ll want revenge ASAP on Kabib. And since Dana is friends with Conor and has the story already built in the rematch would sell. It wasn’t THAT one sided. McGregor won round 3 if I recall. Round 1 was close (edge to Kabib), round two was Kabib. Round 4 Conor came out strong early and then Kabib finished when it hit the mat. Given the long lay off for Conor, I can see the rematch going a bit different.

Ehhhh. I mean i can see it going differently to. Hell i wasn't 100% convinced kahbib could pull it off last night. But my opinion is this. The circumstances are the circumstances. Yeah ofcourse it can go differently. Especially in this sport. One punch is all it takes. But this isn't a video game. You don't just hit the restart button. He lost and at no point controlled the fight. Kahbib flat out dominated. He won. This isn't best 2 out of 3. If it was close i get it. But it wasn't. You don't just give rematches just to see if it'll go differently.

So i also heard that kahbib actually plans on retiring. Apparently his plan was to fight connor, win, then retire. Unless they give him a super fight with GSP or somthing. Don't know how true that is.

Fungus, that article is exactly the point i was trying to make before. Good stuff
