Really want to try Kite surfing seen it all in obx all the time, why dont people do this in NJ? Also how to get started, lessons or just youtube. Looks fun in the sounds and when there's no waves. Also is it even legal to break out a kite in the surfing area during the summer? Thoughts?

Sure it's legal. Ethical? Not so sure... I've always seen it as a way to get to spots surfers don't go... outer shoals in particular.

People do kite surf in NJ, and I think it's killer. Not something I have any interest in on flat water, though. Same with sailboarding... great in the surf, boring on flat water.

You absolutely need a lesson or two. Regardless of your surfing ability strapping an 11meter kite to your body around other people takes skill and good decision making. I kite all the time in DE.
