Wetsuits have knee pads built in. Why not just wear a wet suit? Seems like a pretty simple solution

dude, you can try googling for a knee compression sleeve. they have some good quality neoprene ones out there for running/training (nike or some other brand). could be a way to go. and you wont kook up the lineup in the process.

When I was 13 I split my knee open skating a halfpipe. It needed stitches, but I was too scared to tell my parents in fear of them not letting me skate. Consequently I had the open knee sore that turned into a crater from constant surfing and not letting it heal. That my experience with knee rash. Took like 8 months to heal.
If you're getting knee rash that doesn't heal from surfing, try working on your pop-up. Sounds like you're dragging your knees.

after a few weeks in the tropics I'll get a little raw spot on the top of my knee from all the duck diving. Def not from popping up. If you even think you're dragging a knee you are doing it wrong.

When my son was a baby he started piling sand on my board. I thought "look how cute he is" i thought that until i paddled out and realized that I slightly drag my right knee, never knew this before the sand. Well it ground the skin off an area about the size of a quarter. It took 4 months to fully heal after i realized a month of healing at a time wasnt gonna cut it. Turns out the skin from a month of healing is really thin and will tear right back off. At the time i had moved away from the beach so it wasnt hard to resist for those months especially since it was mid winter. That skin being worn off hurt like hell.

Don't you guys use your knees to pop up? If I'm lying down on my board paddling into a wave, I kind of "kick" my feet and use my knees and hands to pop up. So yea... the tops of both of my knees are usually hairless and scuffed after a long run of surf.

If only your back foot knee is raw, you're dragging your back leg. But if both knees are beat up, it might just be from "proper" form.
