Enjoyed the vid. Certainly need a good wetsoot. A lot of disorganized chop. How often is it surfable? VB is in a "coastal cul de sac", so here too, we must take what we can get.
It's comforting to think that people have it even worse that we do. I wonder if there is a noticeable buoyancy difference. Cool video, thanks for sharing!
I grew up on the south side of Chicago just a mile from the lake(the beginning of the Chicago skyway was my hood) but left in my late teens and never looked back. When surfing became a part of my life in my twenties I became obsessed with the thoughts of possibly catching a wave on lake Michigan, then saw Step Into Liquid and was blown away that people have been surfing the lake since the sixties. Sadly, I still haven't made the trip, it's too easy to go somewhere warm and guarantee a score, but it is on my bucket list.
Their out there smilin and happy covered in ice ,says a lot about their stoke and commitment ,ive been in Lake Superior and it was cold even in the summer but the waves could get surprisingly good when the conditions were right but below freezing air temps and freezing water yu got to be a tough mutha.
idk, I think I'd prefer VB...more chances for clean waves and warm summer waves, plus not quite so cold in winter. Anyway, in weather like those toronto people are surfing, I'd rather just go snowboarding.
was that a gopro mount add or what? man... so dramatic. its a LAKE. relax.. its not colder than the ocean, you know why the icicles and sh1? cause it's fresh watre. it freezes at higher temps. duh.. physics much? anywho... cut the "tough to surf" routine... juan mo time- its a lake.. whence you feel like you're drowning- just drink, its fresh. dont forget the footy by the one mexican that ended up in canada somehow... i mean... i guess?
ohhhhh now i got it.. this is a political thing. canada trying to appeal for all the lake atlantic hillary supporter kooks (and SI mods) to migrate.. like chyea we got waves, eh.
Grew up surfing Huron. Some of my best memories. Made a lot of good friends. But the ocean is much better. Warmer as well.
Ocean's are over rated Nothin beats 6-7' heavy stuff @4 with 30 mph an shores & empty line up and dodging icebergs and hittin jeans beans for mass amounts of haddock, beans, macaroni and cheese and fries For real though...wouldn't mind stumbling on the right place and time on the interior lakes some day
Tell us more Mr. JonBiz...maybe in a herro thread? You joined in November 2012 but this was your first post so I think you're long overdue. Thank you.
