No prob BassMon, I'll let you know after the next swell when I start to see cracks around the plug...
They say surfing leashless is like doing it without a condom it just feels better but idk. My stamina is low these days so lately I prefer the leash. - bubon this is on point. depends on what board and conditions. I would assume no one in jersey owns a leash cause all y'all surf is shorebreak right? I say this in jealousy. it is true however, that if you surf without a leash for a while, get used to never losing your board, and then put a leash on - you will feel the freedom to huck chuck and charge anything you want to. and that feeling is almost as rad as taking that thing off.
Wow, I've had my board for about 9 months of surfing and just used the leash rope that come with the leash. Many rides and a couple 5 foot air drop wipeouts later, still goin strong..
I always use a leash. It has never bothered me. There was a letter to the editor in The News and Courier this week in Chas. about a lady who was struck in the back by a child on a boogie board and supposedly seriously injured. I couldn't help but wonder if she might just be gold digging. Anyway, I have a feeling they'll be cracking down on the leash law here even though surfers weren't involved in this incident.
I never use a leash with my LB. If it's small enough that I'm on the LB, I don't need a leash in those conditions. I tend to surf where there's not a lot of swimmers in the water, but I have used it at times if there were people. Last thing I want to do is hurt someone. Any of my smaller boards I usually use a leash because if I'm riding those it tends to be a longer paddle out and I'm more likely to lose my board in those conditions. I don't always though, just depends really. I think everyone should go leashless (when it's safe to do so) every now and then. Too many people abuse their leash.
believe it or not,it is safer and smarter to go leashless, unless ur in deal or some other crowded spot.other people are the biggest hazards of surfing.not the ocean, not sharks, not ur board....people!!!! the board I learned on didn't have a leash,so iv been in the habit of going without a leash, unless its 6ft or bigger.first off, people break boards because of their leash.when u don't wear a leash,ur board spirals into the air doing a hundred spins, and returns to the shore safe.sure u have to swim in,which being a surfer lol, shouldn't be too hard. also I learned its a lot better not having a leash when ur caught inside in 7ft waves on a 2ft sandbar.u quickly stand on ur board and jump off basically springing the board through the wave, and u have to basically hold urself on the bottom when its 2 ft of water with an 8 footer rushing down on u.its basically impossible to duckdive in that situation,i even seen slater bail his board at snapper contest a few years ago.same scenario.but that's just for our ec beachbreaks.reefs all u do is paddle around it
If you are not cross stepping or actively trying to learn to cross step, there little benefit in going without a leash. Small (<3 )and clean, with no one out, riding leashless delightful; and is a good way to force yourself to control the board while you are learning to trim. On a choppy cross-shore day over 3 feet the swim in is less fun and more plentiful, so leash and probably short board.
Damn RIGHT!! CJ they put leash plugs in every board for a reason ( cuz we should use them). Not as a life line but to protect the rest of the line up. Could you imagine if nobody used them. ALOT MO ACCIDENTS FO SHOR. The whole no leash thing is a over compensation for the lack a skill or penile length and girth. Chew on that lowbaggers.
I use a leash when it's barreling and I want to not swim every time I take a chance wave. I go leashless when I log or when I'm on my 7'0 fun board. On days when it's stomach high or less and really clean and all where there's a low chance to lose your board going leashless can feel so empowering because it's just you and the board...just like the old days
Are you kidding GonadBrad? So what about before they put plugs in boards? There are plenty of times surfing without a leash is acceptable. They have been mentioned in this very thread. Chew on that ass***ger.
Dude, you are such a farking kook. First lesson: leashes were invented so surfers would no longer need to chase a lost board. The "safety factor" was secondary. Second lesson: "lack a skill or penile length and girth". I guess somebody with those issues could be qualified to make such a lame and stupid statement. If anything, it takes *more* skill to surf without a leash. Leashes have allowed kooks like you to take up valuable space in a lineup. I'm usually pretty mellow to most aggro poseur posters here, but you are making me puke in a goddam hurry. You remind me of Shark Hunter. I hope you suffer the same fate. Go suck a dikk.
Whats the big benefit of no leash??? Alittle less drag!!! Are you that weak you cant gettin the waves with a leash on?? Or do you just get off on endangering everyone else in the line up. Its Stooopid and reckless. Just work on your paddling strength and put the phukin leash on. Dude if you board comes smashing into me or my board Im snappin you stick like a toothpick dumba$$!! Think about it before you respond its the smart thing to do.
Im really not good enough to surf without the leash. Ive done it in a pinch but feel like it makes me surf conservatively, just hesitant to take chances. If youve got a leash you can pull into that close out or try to make an impossible drop without the aggravation of making the swim to the beach. Less swimming=more surfing. For me that settles it.
Im still not convinced that you even surf after our last interaction. Arent you from like detroit or something Kid Rock??? talk about a wannabe poser bro. WOW!!!! JK I bet you really Rip. pppffffff!!!!!
kid rock took offense to the small unit comment. It must of hit close to home. The only time its cool to be surfing without a leash is if you're just cruising down the line, having a mellow session. We never intend to do anything mellow that's why we wear leashes. Or you're a longboarder, which is like wifing up a fat chick, which makes no sense unless that's the best you can do...you get where im going with this? You longboard because you can't perform on a shortboard..which is ok, everyone gets old! Kid Rock either doesn't surf or his wife is a fat chick
Not even thinking about the "drag" of a leash. It's a little ass cord. I never said there were benefits to surfing leashless. I Said your blanket comment that people who surf with out them are terrible and blah blah blah, with little cocks and blah blah blah, was moronic. If you are surfing a crowded lineup sure a leash is the smart play. Other than that, if you have an open lineup and are confident in your skills who cares if you surf without a leash. You are the same Douche Canoe that wants to murder SUP's. You need to find breaks that are less crowded or grow the fuk up. raddadbrad my ass, more like whiny little 12 year old girl on the ragdadbrad. Funny Utah. Your mom really likes insertion. I had her in the bowling ball grip last night with two in the stink and one in the pink while she gobbled my knob.
