how do you guys feel about leaving a board in your car during the day? whenever theres waves im gonna need to keep my board with me. is it a good idea to leave my board in the car for like 6 hours? i was thinking of cracking all the windows and sunroof, leaving my board out of the bag and putting a towel or 2 over it? what are your guys thoughts?
just don't let it stay in there too long, and try to park in the shade. a few hours isn't so bad, but if it is too hot in the car, you can damage your board. cracking the windows and parking in the shade ought to be enough to avoid damaging your board.
My boards are always in my car and I have never had a problem with them no matter what the temp. Just don't pull them from a boiling car and throw them into a cold ocean, that's where the trouble starts.
what kind of car? i have a little sedan with black leather haha, but theres no shade in the parking lot but its in an enviroment where i can leave the windows open if i wanted to
hey mex there was a extensive thread on this, but everyone pretty much said put it in a reflective day bag
reflective day bag and you HAVE to keep the windows open, at least 6 inches. I just kept 3 boards in the van all week parked at the shore house, it was easier and more secure. As long as you keep the windows open, you're good to go, bags help with the heat and the wax drip. Towels don't do crap except get grimy from the wax. Yes, do not toss a hot board into a cool ocean.
Towels are good to protect it from the light and to keep in out of open sight if you have no bag, but keep the windows cracked, park in the shade etc..
Another thing that keeps your car LOADS cooler is one of those reflective sunshades for your windshield. I use one when I'm in the same situation where I have to have my boards with me, but can't find shady parking. Get one, they're pretty cheap and worth it.
