Let's Make Swell Info Great Againe

I don't know DP. This all seems a little silly to me. The mods do what they do b/c they have a job to do to keep this place in check (their tact at times most of us don't agree with including myself but it's their job and it's their business model and they are private entity that can make choices for themselves). That being said, traffic drives their business model and the forum provides many clicks.

Most of the surfing subjects get pretty played out on here....how do I attach a leg rope properly etc. I don't mind and actually like the other discussions that take place. It is part entertainment for me while I sit at this desk and grind it out. There is some classic dialogue that goes on here with all different perspectives and some trolling that is generally put in check by the members. The most exciting threads are who's been surfing or a swell event that gets us all excited to discuss.

I really don't see what all the whining is about. It is what we collectively make it. The mods have set out some guidelines and although some of it is 1984ish, it's their rules. It seems they (modes) have taken to heart some of the feedback from the community on some issues and felt that they need to stand their ground on others.

I think everybody is getting their panties twisted over this whole thing. Political threads aside, I have learned a great deal about certain things like fins and board shapes etc and this forum has a lot to offer in terms of entertainment. Nothing has really changed in reality...there will be idiots and yes morons and we will continue to have heated exchanges. There is machismo and negative banter and it's a proverbial lineup for crying out loud.

DP, I think your premise is noble but we are a bunch of misfits in this cauldron and I predict the mayhem will continue as it should. Now get in the pit and try to love someone! Peace.

Signing up and/or making 2nd accounts was too easy and immigrants just started flooding in unscreened. Not all of them were murderers and rapists, but some caused useless discussion and multi page chest pounding threads. And amidst the chaos of "beginners" and trolls a few forum terrorists made it through and before they could be singled out they already had grown roots. Accepted by some or accepted in their own mind and they just wouldn't or couldn't go the **** away.

That is what killed this place. There's still contributing members with wisdom, humor, content, that are still here and have posted in this thread, but they are typing in an apocalyptic swellinfo, burned to the ground by people who wanted swellinfo to be the grade school crowd they never got accepted to. What those people don't understand is that trying to be/wanting to be accepted are the things that make you a corndog, just be you and you'll fall in where you belong. The good members are like salty old dudes now that have a ton of knowledge to give but don't have the ****s to give it anymore...

Want to exercise your right to vote? Go with SS idea and every time some whiny, snitching, 2nd account having poser comes across your border, throw up a vote to ignore and banish them yourself. Don't let the moderators(I cant believe that's even a thing, the type of person that would volunteer ....whatever) ****tate which way the forum goes, be your own enforcement.

With all that, it would be beneficial and entertaining to create a list of rules that would incur banishment, for the people by the people, a Constitution of Swell Info perhaps.

On the good troll side, well, we've got NJShredMachine and all his incarnations. Obviously a troll but also a SwellInfo legend. There is a difference.
