In the end you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

Do they still have technical schools for high school kids? Lets face it we can't all be (or want to be) doctors and lawyers.

I feel bad for teachers.i think its the most mental challenging job, trying to teach a bunch of retards who could care less(highschool teachers).we we're bad at school lol,I was always smart(hard to believe) but hung out with the popular kids that did nothing.my downfall was getting my drivers liscense while still in school.somebody would say hey u want to go on a blunt cruise il smoke u out..absolutely lol.and that was the first time in my life I failed, only because I would leave school at 3rd period.i was always in the honor roll classes, the smart kid classes, got all a's and b's....but that was a long time ago and I don't use 90% of the shyt I learned so I forgot it all over time.with anything in life, whether school, surfing,a job,if u don't do everyday on a consistant basis, its hard to remember

Historically NH has been a leader in education, with rather high ratings for SAT type tests in the past. It was based on local districts doing what they felt best for their local schools. However, after the Claremont Decision, which made all schools follow national Federal guidelines, the SAT type evaluations dropped dramatically. They are not even on the charts anymore. As for myself, I went to a Jesuit High School in PR. I have no problem with academics--it was paddled in to me!! And yes, it made me view life differently than all the morons on this board--but it worked.

Dude, as I said, my parents work in education. I am not sure what to do about the worst schools in inner cities, but the monitoring system is a good solution in most classrooms. It works, and is proven.

Right... You don't get to vote on whether your taxes pay for road construction... or fire stations ...or even having a mayor. Welcome to taxes. We pay in to be part of the community/state/country. I don't like that my taxes go towards fighting wars in other countries. I don't get to choose not to support the wars through taxes. I think it is funny that you are so bent out of shape on pensions, which probably only amounts to pennies out of your paycheck. Children are the future of our country. If making teachers happy ends up with some positive return for education, it was all worth it.

It's definitely different in NJ. Pensions are making the state bankrupt especially double dipping. You shouldn't be able to retire from a government job, collect a pension and then get another government job. We are far behind many other countries in education. Just the facts. Our education system sucks and the IQ of the general population is far below other countries (even some third world ones). People like you think the solution is to throw more money at education. Money doesn't help students. There was millions given to several cities and towns in NJ. Test scores actually went down. It comes down to parents and how they teach their kids. Teachers are basically paid babysitters.

I'm going to throw up if I hear that the children are our future one more time. The country is on it's way to an economic meltdown, our education system ranks horrible in the world and it won't get better, and the USA is basically just a fascist government controlled by corporations. That's why citizens should vote for everything. Voting for a politician is meaningless, they are already paid for by lobbyists and corporations. Education is one of the most corrupt with towns getting millions which inflates budgets which go to raises and shady backroom deals. Let's make them honest. No pensions on tax payers. Why should tax payers pay into someone's pension when most private companies don't do that. It should be just like the private sector where a teacher contributes to a 401k and the state matches up to a percentage. Everything else is bull****. YOu would think government would run great considering all the money they pull in but private companies are far superior and hold people accountable for their job performance. Education is a joke in this country. Private companies should run our education system and the Department of Education should be completely dismantled.

this isnt capitalism, this is violent state backed pseudo capatalism

patents are a gvt enforced entity

without patents, anyone could make this drug and it would be stupid cheap
    lemme rephrase that

multiple labs/manufactures would compete to make it as efficiently as possible leading to doward price wars

    SEE! capatalism works?

and dude who invented polio vaccine?
GAVE AWAY the patent cause hes a G
bet he got leid a lot

Tact is a two way street. Please note all the "tact" that is given to "newbies" from the start here.
Using tact with morons is a sign of severe weakness, brew.

Have you been reading Karl Marx, Frederich Engels by any chance??
As for education, I agree with it being a joke--grade school to through high school is a baby-sitting organization. Private schools already exist.

I think the education system should be run by a non-government entity like a business. They will manage the money better and hold teachers accountable for performance. Teachers will also not get pensions and get 401ks like the private sector. They would manage the money better and the eduation system would be far better than the one the department of education provides.
