Micah whats your plan for the site? Where do you see it in 5 years? 10? 20? What is your favorite part? Least favorite?
the circle jerky threads. i don't know if it's people attempting to troll or they're just that off but there's more crap then cream. there are some genuinely funny posters but there are a lot that don't hit the mark.
I know, for reals. I mean, it used to be such a gold mine of valuable information, as there is a tonne of stuff one can learn about the ocean and riding waves on the internet. A real shame what it's become. IHL, you know it's the same as it ever was. If anything, it's way more funny now.
i've been active on the forum since 2007 but there are a number of people that have half the time on the board and triple the post count. like, is this your job? the lack of original content is kinda boring too. i do enjoy the ASP/WSl conversations though!
funny is a relative term. by the looks of the circle jerky threads, yea there are people that think it's "more funny" now but i don't know man.
Let's ask this question? Does this site lack something? We already have the rules of surfing comin out to shoot. More surf porn than you can watch or read about in a full-blown sesh. With the touch of a button, warming our salty little hearts are the gurus of wave predicting! Surprises are always better. For the sake o Duke I'm full. I can't takes no mo!
Yes, I get paid $50/ hour to troll this board. All boards are full of people that are bored. That is because they are boring people. I come here to post in-between trading stocks....buy a stock....post here.... go back and sell same stock...etc, etc.... Its a boring living, but pays good income if you can hack the bore of it all. As for surfing, who surfs anymore?? Surfing is soooo yesterday.......
I wish. Unfortunately, white collar workers like yourself have taken over the lineups…I miss the days of dirt balls only in the water.
Anytime an activity swells due to masses of humanity joining it (the followers), it is time to take a leadership position and move on to something else. I will continue to surf, but as "getaway" activity, it is done, finished, kaput. My surfing days are numbered, I have a few more years due to age. It has been a great 54 years at it, and as yankee cynically states (and I paraphrase), "ya should have been there 50 years ago"!!
IHL, dude the forum was gay as hell when you joined. Those dudes were even more clueless than today's group. And there were no characters. You generation's biggest character was friggin that Matt dude from Cape May and friggin Gruvi, a perpetual beginner who only made summer time appearances. I implore any new members to delve into the thread archives of this lost period of greatness. Really, go check out how mind numbingly boring this message board was in 2007. IHL, you have to make a decision: Do you want to be part of the clique or stay on the outside. It is very obvious that you say these things because you feel kind of left-out. I ain't insulting you either. I just understand human nature. Show us an example of this lost era and it's relevance. And people what do you care how much someone posts. Hey if some dude can earn a paycheck while spending most of his day talking aboot stickers and Chucktown, props to them. SI is also a great place for the elderly like Barry to vent some steam and pass the afternoon. Ain't no harm in that. It's better than bingo. Plus this is the one place that makes the southerners feel relevant. Don't take that away from them and their sweet tea and fried oreos.
